🌱 New Article Published in TSF Journal of Biology! 🌿

We are pleased to announce the publication of a fascinating research study exploring how natural plant-based extracts can influence crop growth through hormesis.

Title:
Hormetic response of turnip seedlings to aqueous extracts of Withania coagulans seeds and Cassia fistula fruit

Study Highlights:
This research investigates how allelochemicals from Withania coagulans and Cassia fistulaβ€”plants rich in phenolic compoundsβ€”affect the germination and early growth of turnip seedlings.

✨ Key Findings:

Low concentrations of W. coagulans extract (2.5–5 g/L) significantly enhanced root and shoot growth, improving fresh weight and reducing emergence time.

Higher concentrations (10–80 g/L) inhibited germination, showing a clear hormetic pattern.

C. fistula extracts showed more complex responses, with higher concentrations (40–80 g/L) enhancing certain growth parameters and boosting germination at 80 g/L.

Phenolic compounds such as quercetin, ferulic acid, gallic acid, and p-coumaric acid may play a major role in these effects.

Conclusion:
This study highlights the potential of low-dose W. coagulans extractβ€”especially 2.5 g/Lβ€”as a natural, eco-friendly growth enhancer to improve turnip productivity.
