THE LION AND THE MOUSE
A small mouse wakes up a lion. The lion threatens to kill and eat him when the mouse apologises saying that killing him won't serve any purpose (would not satiate the lion's hunger) and also that if the lion set him free, the mouse would someday return the favour.
The lion sneers at the proposition of the mouse helping him but nevertheless lets him go.
Some time later the lion gets caught in a hunter's net. The mouse gnaws through the ropes and sets him free.
Lesson: No good deed goes unrewarded and no being is too small to be of help to anyone else.
