It is sad to know that dr. Babar Mehmood, is no more with us. He was Orthopedic Resident at Nishtar from 2017 to 2022, who left us suddenly today due to renal failure. He was a man of great character, kindness, and dignity. May Allah grant him the highest ranks in Jannah.

In Loving Memory of Sultan Zafar
A Light Passed On, A Legacy Continued

SIUT stands in grief and solidarity with Dr. Mehr Afroze, our esteemed consultant nephrologist, as she endures the unimaginable loss of her beloved son, Sultan Zafar, aged 23.

Sultan, a young medical student, was on the path to serve and heal. After a tragic accident claimed his life, his journey did not end. In a moment of overwhelming grief, Dr. Mehr made a deeply selfless decision. With immense strength, she consented to donate her son's organs so that others may live.

Our team carefully identified patients on the no-donor list who matched Sultan’s blood type, and among them, those with the closest match were selected. Two lives were given a new chance: a 42-year-old doctor and a 19-year-old girl.

Their futures now carry Sultan’s legacy forward.

In honoring this act of compassion and courage, we are reminded of the verse from Surah Al-Ma'idah
"Whoever saves one life, it is as if he has saved all of humanity." (Qur'an 5:32)

SIUT grieves alongside Dr. Mehr and her family, and we deeply admire her unwavering strength in the face of profound sorrow. Her decision has brought hope where there was despair and light where there was darkness.

May Sultan’s soul rest in eternal peace.
May his legacy continue to inspire acts of kindness and healing.

Magar aik sad road accident ne usay hum se juda kar diya. Sar par chot ke baad brain death hui...
Lekin... yeh kahani yahan khatam nahi hoti...

Uski walida, Dr. Mehar Afroz Sahiba, jo SIUT mein nephrology department ka azeem hissa hain, ne aesa faisla kiya jo tareekh mein likha jayega...

👩‍⚕️ Apne jawaan betay ke donon kidneys aur liver donate kar diye — taake kisi aur ki zindagi roshan ho sake.
Woh SIUT jaise mohtaram idare mein khud bhi insanon ki zindagiyaan bachati hain… aur aaj apni maa ki haisiyat se insaniyat ka jhanda buland kar gayi hain.

SIUT – jahan insaniyat sirf lafz nahi, amal hai.
Dr. Adeeb-ul-Hasan Rizvi – jinka mission tha ke "Daulat nahi, sewa ka nizam hona chahiye", aaj bhi unka har student, har doctor is mission ka jism-o-jaan ban chuka hai.

Woh teen log jinhein uske organs mile — aaj phir se jee pa rahe hain.

Renowned surgeon and founder of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) Prof Dr Adib Rizvi has been conferred with the prestigious British Medical Journal Award for his meritorious services and contribution to medical sciences in the South Asian region.

The BMJ is a leading British medical journal which honours medical professionals, researchers and intuitions every year for their exceptional services in the field of medical sciences.

According to a press release, a ceremony to confer the Special Recognition Award was held in New Delhi recently where Dr Sanjay Nagra, co-chair of the BMJ Advisor Board, received the award on behalf of Dr Rizvi.

Dr Nagra paid rich tributes to Dr Rizvi and highlighted his pioneering role in establishing a model of equitable and accessible healthcare system in a developing country like Pakistan.

Speaking to the audience via Zoom, Dr Rizvi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the journal for its immense contribution towards the promotion of medical education and allied research.

He said political animosities should be set aside for the betterment and well-being of the deprived population.

شیخ وقاص اکرم کا آج پریس کانفرنس میں انکشاف سن کر جسم میں ایک سرد لہر دوڑ گئی کہ عمر سرفراز چیمہ کو لمبے عرصے تک ٹھنڈے فرش پر لٹایا گیا ہے جس سے ان کے دونوں کندھے ضائع ہونے کا خدشہ ہے۔

بخدا اس قدر جبر و ستم میں ، عمر کے اس حصے میں ، اس قدر جبر و فسطائیت کے سامنے ڈٹ جانے کی مثال اس ملک میں نہیں ملتی۔

عمر سرفراز چیمہ ایک نام نہیں بلکہ یہ ایک داستانِ استقامت ہے، یہ ایک مثالی عزم ہے، یہ وہ چراغ ہے جو تند و تیز ہواؤں میں بھی جلتا رہا۔ جب عہدے، طاقت اور مراعات بانٹنے کی گھڑی تھی تب بہت سے چہرے سرفراز بھی تھے اور سرنگوں بھی مگر جب آزمائش کا وقت آیا، جب ٹھنڈے فرشوں کی سختی اور زنجیروں کی جکڑن مقدر بنی تب بہت سوں کے قدم لرز گئے مگر چیمہ صاحب پتھر کی سل کی طرح اپنی جگہ قائم رہے۔

کہاں وہ دن جب لوگ پروٹوکول میں سلام جھک کر کرتے تھے اور کہاں یہ وقت کہ کندھے جواب دے گئے، جسم مفلوج ہوا مگر حوصلہ نہیں ٹوٹا۔ وہیل چیئر تک محدود ہونے کے باوجود چیمہ صاحب کی غیر متزلزل وفا کی چمک وہی ہے جو پہلے تھی۔ تاریخ کے اوراق میں ایسے وفادار کم ہی ملتے ہیں جو مصلحتوں کی کالی چادر اوڑھنے کے بجائے اصولوں کی شمع تھامے رکھتے ہیں، چاہے اس کا تاوان جسم کی ٹوٹ پھوٹ ہی کیوں نہ ہو۔

یہ عمر کا وہ حصہ تھا جب لوگ آرام دہ زندگی کے خواب دیکھتے ہیں، مگر چیمہ صاحب نے تخت و تاج کی پرواہ کیے بغیر جیل کے فرش کو اپنے حوصلے کی چٹان بنا لیا۔ نہ فریاد کی، نہ آنسو بہائے، نہ سودے بازی کی۔ قوم نے دیکھ لیا کہ جب تاریخ لکھی جائے گی تو بہت سے نام ہوا میں تحلیل ہو چکے ہوں گے مگر عمر سرفراز چیمہ کی استقامت کا یہ باب سنہرے حروف سے کندہ ہوگا۔

وقت آ گیا ہے اس ظلم و جبر پہ آواز اٹھائی جائے اور عمر سرفراز چیمہ کی رہائی یقینی بنائی جائے۔ دو سال سے زائد عرصے سے یہ جبر سہہ سہہ کر اب ان کی ہڈیاں چٹک رہی ہے۔ ایک بزرگ پہ اور کتنا ظلم کرنا ہے ۔ عمر سرفراز چیمہ کی کوئی میڈیا ٹیم نہیں ہے اس لیے ان کےلیے آواز نہیں اٹھتی۔ اب ہمیں ان کی آواز بننا ہے۔

The renowned cancer specialist and savior of cancer patients, Professor Dr. Mehrullah Tareen, has been martyred in the Double Road blast. 💔

He was a beacon of hope for countless cancer patients, a dedicated healer, and a true asset to Balochistan. His loss is immeasurable, and his contributions to the medical field will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his loved ones find strength during this difficult time. Amen.

Cause: sudden cardiac arrest.

He was working as Surgery Resident at CMH rawalpindi.
