UET Lahore and Punjab University to Promote Academic and Research Collaboration

Lahore ( ) The University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, and the University of the Punjab (PU), Lahore, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic cooperation and promote collaborative research initiatives between the two premier institutions of higher learning.
The MoU was signed by Vice Chancellor UET, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir (TI), and Vice Chancellor Punjab University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, at a ceremony held in Lahore. The agreement aims to facilitate the mutual sharing and use of research products, technologies, and materials developed by faculty members, researchers, and students of both universities.
Under this partnership, UET and PU will be able to access and utilize each other’s specialized products for academic, research, and developmental purposes on a “No Profit, No Loss” basis. The collaboration seeks to encourage interdisciplinary research, resource optimization, and innovation through shared facilities and expertise.
Both universities have agreed to promote joint workshops, training sessions, and seminars to build research capacity and exchange knowledge. The MoU also provides a framework for the sharing of infrastructure, data, prototypes, and other research outputs while ensuring respect for each institution’s intellectual property rights.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir (TI) said that this collaboration reflects the growing need for universities to pool resources and foster innovation through cooperation rather than competition.
He added, “Together, UET and Punjab University can make significant contributions to solving national challenges through applied research and joint technological development.”
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, lauded the initiative, emphasizing that such linkages between leading public universities will enhance academic quality, reduce duplication of efforts, and promote a culture of shared learning and innovation.
The MoU will remain in effect for three years and may be renewed upon mutual consent. Both universities have designated focal persons to coordinate activities and monitor progress under the agreement.
