Ducky Bhai is better than thousands of husbands who leave their wives behind and move abroad in the age of smartphones while calling it “honour.”
The biggest problem in our society is that many people think honour means keeping a woman inside the house. A man can spend months or even years away from home, meet different people and enjoy his own life, but he expects his wife to stay at home all the time. He thinks that if she never leaves the house, his honour is safe.
But times have changed.
Today, a phone is not just for calling your husband. It has WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and the internet. The whole world is just one click away. If a marriage depends only on keeping someone locked inside the house, then the real problem is not the phone. The real problem is the lack of trust.
Men and women both have feelings. Both need love, care, attention and someone to talk to. A good marriage cannot survive on money and a few phone calls. It survives because two people trust each other and support each other.
Instead of trying to control your wife, help her become educated, confident and financially independent. A strong and independent woman does not destroy a family. She makes it stronger.
Our faith also teaches us to respect women’s rights. Khadijah bint Khuwaylid was a successful businesswoman. Islam gave women the right to own property, run a business and earn their own money. Supporting your wife’s growth is not against Islam. It is a sign of trust and respect.
That is why I believe Ducky Bhai deserves support, not criticism, if he trusts his wife and encourages her to do what she is good at.
Real honour is not keeping a woman inside four walls.
Real honour is trusting her even when you are not there.
