The Department of Theatre, Film & TV (TFT–SMC), BNU, held its 27th Board of Studies meeting on November 6th, 2025, bringing together leading academic voices from within BNU and across renowned institutions.

The meeting was attended by:
• Ms. Farzana Shahid, Registrar, BNU
• Ms. Noreen Lodhi, GM Quality Assurance, BNU
• Prof. Dr. Bushra H. Rahman, Dean, SMC
• Mr. Sheharyar Zahid, Senior Lecturer & HoD TFT–SMC
• Mr. Tausif Zain ul Abedin, Associate Professor, NCA
• Dr. Asghar Nadeem Syed, Writer, Poet & Dean, Faculty of Languages & Literature, UOL

Other faculty members from TFT–SMC were also present and contributed to the discussions.

Together, the board reviewed and approved key academic matters, including:
• Elective courses for TFT
• Thesis/Project ideas for BS Social Sciences (Major in TFT)
• Thesis/Project ideas for MS Film & TV

This collaborative session reflects SMC BNU’s commitment to academic rigor, creative excellence, and fostering strong academic partnerships for the growth of Theatre, Film & TV education in Pakistan.

SMC BNU Represents on the Global Stage 🌍

We are proud to share that Dr. Rabia Noor, Assistant Professor and Head of Department (JMC) at the School of Media and Mass Communication, BNU, presented her research at the FIAT/IFTA World Conference 2025 in Rome, Italy. 🇮🇹✨

Her presentation, “Revisiting Archival Narratives: The Influence of Women News Anchors on Gender Discourse in the Genesis of Pakistani Television,” explored how pioneering women anchors at PTV shaped national media and gender representation.

Out of numerous submissions worldwide, only two projects were selected and we’re proud that one of them was of Dr. Rabia Noor’s from SMC BNU.
