HAPPY 79TH INDEPENDENCE DAY, PAKISTAN! 🇵🇰
14 August 1947 — a historic day when Pakistan emerged on the world map as an independent nation.
Today, on 14 August 2026, we proudly celebrate the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan. But Independence Day is not merely about decorating our homes, waving the national flag, or celebrating with fireworks. It is a day to remember the struggle, courage, sacrifices, and dreams that made Pakistan possible.
The creation of Pakistan was the result of a historic political and ideological struggle of the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent. Under the remarkable leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and inspired by the vision of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, millions of Muslims united for the dream of having a separate homeland where they could live with freedom, dignity, and security.
The Lahore Resolution of 23 March 1940 became a defining milestone in the Pakistan Movement. After years of political struggle, negotiations, determination, and countless sacrifices, Pakistan finally came into existence on 14 August 1947.
But the price of freedom was enormous.
During Partition, millions of people were forced to leave their ancestral homes and undertake a painful journey toward their new homeland. Families were separated, homes and businesses were abandoned, and countless lives were lost. Mothers lost their children, children lost their parents, and entire families sacrificed everything they had for the dream of Pakistan.
Many of those who migrated arrived with almost nothing except hope, faith, and determination.
That is why Pakistan is not merely a piece of land.
Pakistan is the result of the dreams, struggles, tears, sacrifices, and blood of generations.
Today, we remember and pay tribute to every person who contributed to the Pakistan Movement — the political workers, students, scholars, women, men, migrants, families, and all those who sacrificed their comfort, property, and lives for the creation of Pakistan.
But Independence Day also gives us an important responsibility.
We must ask ourselves: Are we doing enough for the Pakistan our forefathers dreamed of?
The best way to honour their sacrifices is not only by celebrating Pakistan for one day, but by working for its progress every day.
We must promote unity, faith, discipline, education, honesty, tolerance, justice, hard work, and respect for the law. We must build a Pakistan where every citizen can live with dignity and where talent, determination, and hard work are given the opportunity to flourish.On this Independence Day, I salute the sacrifices of our forefathers and pray for a peaceful, prosperous, strong, and united Pakistan.
May Allah protect Pakistan, bless its people, and guide us toward a brighter future. Ameen.
