Today, the Directorate of Clubs and Societies organized a plantation drive at UET Mardan Campus, with enthusiastic participation from both male and female students, the majority being women. The plants for the drive were generously gifted by the Progressive Climate Foundation.

The event highlighted UET Mardan’s commitment to women empowerment, gender equality, social inclusion, and youth engagement in community development. It also aligns with the key thematic areas of the Center of Excellence on Countering Violent Extremism, including youth as agents of nation building, civic responsibility, and environmental sustainability. Through such initiatives, UET Mardan continues to foster inclusivity, leadership, and resilience among its students.

📢 Official Announcement from the University of Engineering & Technology Mardan!
In a move to streamline and improve student services, we are excited to announce the launch of the Student Facilitation Centre (One Window Operation). This new initiative combines the following offices into a single, integrated unit for more efficient service:
1️⃣ CMS Office
2️⃣ Admission Cell (Including Director Admissions, Office Assistant/Clerk, etc.)
3️⃣ Student Dealing Office
This change will take effect immediately. We believe this will make accessing student-related services smoother and more convenient for everyone! 🙌📢

The Department of Software Engineering successfully organized a seminar on “Horizontal Federated Learning (HFL) for Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) Systems” on Tuesday 16th September 2025 .

The session was delivered by Dr. Safdar Ali, who shared valuable insights into the applications of Horizontal Federated Learning in managing and optimizing Distributed Energy Resources. The seminar highlighted the significance of collaborative learning models in modern energy systems while ensuring data privacy and efficiency across distributed networks.

Both students and faculty members actively participated in the session and gained deep knowledge about the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Federated Learning with energy resource systems. The discussion encouraged participants to explore innovative research directions in sustainable and intelligent energy solutions.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the Chairman, Department of Software Engineering, Dr. Ibrar Ali Shah, presented a shield and certificate of appreciation to the resource person, Dr. Safdar Ali, as a token of gratitude for his contribution.

📢 Strengthening AI Education & Collaboration

Today, Principal Fazle Haq College & Chairman BISE Mardan, along with MPA Abdus Salam, visited UET Mardan to discuss collaboration in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

Both sides agreed to launch a BS in Artificial Intelligence program in collaboration with UET Mardan, and to work together on the integration of AI across both institutions.

It was further agreed to pursue a Government-to-Government (G2G) arrangement for the speedy deployment of AI initiatives, with UET Mardan serving as the hub of AI integration in the region.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad Khan, assured his full support and welcomed this forward-looking partnership as a landmark step toward preparing the youth for the future.

We were honored to host the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) delegation, led by their Country Head, along with 20+ leading researchers in the field of water, at UET Mardan.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad Khan (Vice Chancellor) and Prof. Dr. Imran Khan (Pro Vice Chancellor).

During the fruitful discussions, both sides agreed to:
✅ Utilize the state-of-the-art research facilities of UET Mardan

🚀✨ Day 2 – International Conference on “Evolution of AI in Higher Education Institutions” ✨🚀

The second day of our international conference was not only filled with knowledge and collaboration but also marked a historic milestone — the groundbreaking ceremony of integrating AI in Higher Education Institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with UET Mardan proudly declared as the hub of AI.

🔹 The day began with an insightful opening speech by Prof. Dr. Sadaqat Jan, Dean UET Mardan, setting the tone for thought-provoking discussions ahead.
🔹 Distinguished talks were delivered by Dr. Izhar Ullah (Focus College, Canada) and Dr. Imran Marwat (QAC) on preparing students and institutions for an AI-driven world.
🔹 The panel discussion on “AI: A Double-Edged Sword” was moderated by Prof. Dr. Ibrar Ali Shah, Chairman CSE, UET Mardan, and featured the DG DoST Mr. Sajid Hussain Shah, Noor Muhammad (Ejirga), a representative of KPITB, and senior HED representatives.
🔹 The panel discussion on “Road Map for the Integration of AI in Higher Education Institutions” was moderated by Dr. Muhammad Usman, Chairman CS, UET Mardan, and highlighted practical strategies for AI adoption across the sector.
🔹 The Vice Chancellor of University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Syed Badshah, thoroughly supported and collaborated in making this event a success, while delegates from AWKUM and City University enriched the sessions by sharing their experiences and institutional perspectives.
🔹 The day concluded with closing remarks by our Chief Guest, Additional Secretary Javed Iqbal sb, followed by a shield distribution ceremony and group photo.
