🎮💰 An Ordinary Old Game or a Fortune in the Making? The Incredible Story of Stadium Events!
Sometimes, something that appears to be an ordinary item bought from an old store suddenly turns out to be a valuable treasure. That is exactly what happened to Jennifer Thompson when she found an extremely rare NES game, “Stadium Events.”
When she went to Save Point Video Games to have the cartridge valued, she deliberately showed the shop owner some common NES games first, including 10-Yard Fight and The Karate Kid. Then, all of a sudden, she revealed the real cartridge—Stadium Events!
The shop staff immediately realized that this was not just another old video game, but an extremely rare collector’s item.
Later, a claim became popular online that the shop had offered Jennifer all the money available in the cash register. However, the shop owner’s explanation was somewhat different. According to him, the problem was that the shop did not have enough capital to pay what the rare cartridge might be worth on the market, so they suggested selling it on consignment.
Rather than taking that route, Jennifer decided to auction the game herself in hopes of getting the highest possible price.
The discovery remains an interesting example in the world of retro gaming of how an old and seemingly worthless item can sometimes turn out to be extremely valuable.
And the most interesting part? 😲
Showing the ordinary games first and then suddenly revealing Stadium Events—it was like a scene straight out of a movie! 🎮💎
Wording note: “consignment” means the shop would sell the item on the owner’s behalf, with the proceeds then shared according to their agreement.
