Happy Independence Day! August 14th is commemorated across Pakistan and Azad Kashmir as Independence Day, in recognition of the sacrifices and bravery of our forebears that led to our independence. As we celebrate this momentous occasion, we must reflect on why our forebears deemed Pakistan a necessary homeland for Muslims across the subcontinent. We should recall the oppression and jingoism faced by Muslims in Palestine, Iraq, Sham, Lebanon, Syria, and Indian-occupied Kashmir. We must reaffirm our commitment to liberating Kashmir from Indian subjugation and eradicating the tactics of suppression employed by the occupant. Ultimately, the affiliation of Kashmir with Pakistan will mark the completion of Pakistan, a vision our predecessors had long cherished.
