"Estimating the Informal Economy and Tax Evasion in Pakistan: Insights from Monetary Approach"
🔍 Abstract:
This study explores the informal economy (INE) and tax evasion (TAXE) in Pakistan, analyzing data from 1980 to 2022 using the monetary approach. It reveals how factors like tax burden, inflation, and economic instability impact currency demand and informal transactions. Key findings show that the INE grew from 11.17% of GDP in 1980 to 44.14% in 2022, with TAXE also rising significantly.
