Former Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano was resentenced to 10-years in prison, despite an appeals court overturning part of his conviction on corruption charges, telling Mangano his behavior was a "sad fall from grace."

Mangano has served four years of the original 12-year prison term at Federal Medical Center, Devens in Massachusetts, where he has been working as a head chef and service dog trainer. He was hoping for a reduced sentence of five years because two bribery convictions were vacated by a federal appeals court.

According to his reported account, he felt the presence of angels and heard voices and sounds within the Prophet’s ﷺ chamber. This personal experience could not be independently verified, but the historic Aghawat institution remains an important part of the history of Masjid an-Nabawi ﷺ.
