HRC KP Announces Province-Wide Peaceful Demonstrations Demanding Justice for Dr. Karam Elahi.
The Human Rights Council of Pakistan Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (HRC KP) announces peaceful demonstrations on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 4:00 PM at different press clubs across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to demand justice, due process, and a fair and transparent investigation in the case of Dr. Karam Elahi, a Customs Officer.
Dr. Karam Elahi is known among colleagues and members of civil society as an honest, dedicated, and professional public servant. His arrest has raised serious concerns regarding the circumstances of the case and the need to ensure that his constitutional and legal rights are fully protected.
HRC KP maintains that accountability must always be carried out in accordance with the law and fundamental human rights. Any allegations against an individual must be examined through a fair, impartial, transparent and legally established process.

Our Demands
HRC KP calls upon the relevant authorities to:
Ensure due process and a fair trial for Dr. Karam Elahi.
Conduct a transparent, impartial and independent investigation into the case.
Ensure that no individual is subjected to unlawful pressure, harassment or intimidation.
Protect the constitutional and fundamental rights of Dr. Karam Elahi and his family.
Ensure that all proceedings are conducted strictly in accordance with the Constitution and the law.
Make the facts and circumstances of the case transparent through lawful procedures.
HRC KP clarifies that this peaceful demonstration is not against accountability. It is a demand for accountability through law, justice through due process, and transparency through an impartial investigation.
The Human Rights Council of Pakistan Khyber Pakhtunkhwa calls upon lawyers, civil society members, human rights defenders, students, journalists and concerned citizens to stand together for the principles of justice, rule of law and fundamental human rights.
