FUNCTIONS of TENSE.in English grammar the word tense has three functions.
As verb mean to make someone sad. Example.She tenses her husband.
As adjective mean unhappy. Example. I met a tense boy.
As noun mean time. Example. She teaches present tense.

The word tense is derived from the latin word Tempus, the french word Tens and the Greek the word tenses. All the words (Tempus, Tens, Tenses) mean Time or Era.
