Introductory Meeting on Teacher Training and Institutional Reform
Secretary Education, Mr. Asfand Yar Khan, chaired an introductory meeting with the Director of the Provincial Institute for Teacher Education (PITE), representatives from UNICEF, and officials from the Bureau of Curriculum (BOC). The meeting aimed to strengthen the institutional framework for teacher training and improve the overall quality of education delivery in Balochistan.
Key Decisions and Agreed Action Points
1. Restructuring of PITE : A comprehensive restructuring of PITE will be undertaken to enhance its institutional capacity and operational efficiency.
2. Public–Private Collaboration : Strategic partnerships will be explored with private schools systems to support teacher training and resource sharing.
3. Utilizing Trained Teachers : Teachers who have received education or training abroad and inland will be actively engaged to contribute to modern and innovative teaching approaches.
4. Focus on Certified Training : PITE will offer certificate-based training courses only , ensuring quality, accountability, and professional recognition.
5. Formation of a Technical Working Group : A Technical Working Group will be established, comprising the Director PITE, representatives from UNICEF, and other key stakeholders, to guide planning and implementation.
6. Revamping Elementary Colleges :A reform process will be initiated to revamp elementary colleges in line with national standards and teacher education needs.
7. Review of Existing Training Programs: All ongoing training programs, including those under PSDP, will be critically reviewed and aligned with current sector priorities. Accordingly,a comprehensive Teacher Training Program will be devised for funding through PSDP and development partners support.
8. Collaboration with Training Institutions : Partnerships will be pursued with both public and private training institutes to diversify and expand access to quality teacher development programs.
