Tributes to journalists

martyred in blasts

Saifur Rehman Baloch and Imran Sheikh, two outstanding media persons of the Samaa TV network lost their lives in the second blast that occurred outside snooker club on Alamdar Road on Thursday night. Saifur Rehman was a Reporter who normally covered dangerous events with full professional commitment and late Imran Sheikh was the Cameraman who lost his life while performing his professional duties in an efficient manner on the front line of the incident. One of the technical staff member of the Samaa TV network also sustained injuries in the second blast. A driver of the Geo TV also sustained minor injuries with the windscreen of the TV van damaged in the blast. The fanatics carried out su***de attacks against the people from Hazara community while the second blast, more powerful, in a car was meant to kill the journalists, rescue workers and policemen who normally rush for their professional duties and reach the place of incidents first. Rescue workers are engaged in relief and rescue operations taking the dead and injured to the hospitals while journalists pass on the first hand information to the whole world while police provide the security cover securing the whole area for security purposes. Only hardened criminals can plan to attack and kill the professional people who had nothing to do with any conflict. They simply perform their professional duties at an act of violence. Why they were targeted? There is no explanation to this attitude.
