T𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭
𝟏. 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡-𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐘𝐏: Your final year project is the most important project of your degree. Choose a research focussed project - a project that can generate new knowledge worth publishing in a conference or journal.
𝟐. 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐅𝐘𝐏: Check the google scholar or DBLP profile of the available supervisors. Select the supervisor, who has a good track record of recent publications. He/she can guide you to publish the findings of your FYP.
3. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡-𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞: Prepare a resume that highlights your research skills (e.g., research gap analysis, qualitative and quantitative data analysis) and technical skills (e.g., Python and MATLAB) that can help you in your research.
4. 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬: Several courses of your degree will involve a project. Work on projects in different areas (e.g., computer vision, cyber security, NLP, optimization, etc.). This will help you to be able to apply for several types of scholarships and align your resume accordingly.
5. 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐅𝐘𝐏: You will have to write an FYP report. Write it in a way that can be easily converted into a research paper. Submit it to a conference or journal asap. Having one or two published papers will make your profile very strong.
