Every blink acts like a quick maintenance cycle for your eyes. As your eyelids close, they spread a fresh layer of tears across the cornea, keeping it lubricated while clearing away dust and tiny particles. This tear film also provides nutrients and helps protect the eyes from harmful microbes, reducing dryness, irritation, and tiredness.
Although blinking happens automatically, it plays an essential role in keeping our vision clear and comfortable. A single blink usually lasts just 0.1–0.4 seconds, yet we blink roughly 15–20 times every minute. Over time, these small, unnoticed movements continuously refresh and stabilize the tear film, helping our eyes stay healthy and our vision sharp.
