English was originally the language of England, but with the passage of time and the movement of British Empire especially in South Asia the language became the secondary language and in some cases primary as well of many former British colonies such as India, now one can say India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Currently English is the primary language of not only the countries actively touched by British imperialism but also many business and cultural spheres dominated by those countries. It is the language of international business and banking . So the importance of English language cannot be neglected. But it might be important to say at this point that the use of english language should not be done to show off, or to look superior from people who cannot speak english.
