Following an inquiry into recent summit claims on Spantik Peak (7027 meters), it has been confirmed that the claims made by Ms Sohniya Mehreen Babar, Ms Amina Shigri, Mr Mehboob Ali and Mr Ameen Hushevi were false.
All summit claims must follow the guidelines below:
🔹 All summit claims must be verified by the Alpine Club of Pakistan.
🔹 Media outlets and organisations are advised not to publish summit claims without ACP confirmation.
🔹 Any violations will result in disciplinary action, including bans and fines. Support staff and tour operators involved in fake claims will also face penalties.
The Alpine Club places the highest importance on integrity. Integrity is essential in all sports and mountaineering is a matter of life and death. False claims whether about summits, the use of supplemental oxygen, or solo ascents undermine the spirit of mountaineering and diminish the achievements of genuine climbers.
To report complaints of fake summit claims including solo or without oxygen attempts, please reach out via our official email or social media.
