Provincial Health Advisor Ikhtisham Khan Advocate stated that health and education have always been priorities in the vision of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. The government has allocated the largest budget for health in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and launched the `` Jwandon Card" program for free medicines and treatment for the poor, starting with Mardan district as a pilot project.
In the first phase, four districts from northern and southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been included, with plans to expand the program across the province. The minister emphasized zero tolerance for negligence in healthcare services. He announced plans to establish cardiology institutes in Mardan and Dera Ismail Khan.
He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the "Jwandoon Card" program at THQ Takht Bhai, where Dr. Masooma of KFW and Dr. Shoaib, DHO Mardan, also addressed the gathering. The minister thanked KFW and the German Bank for their financial support and cooperation in launching the project.
He said that the government is committed to improving healthcare services and has increased the budget for health cards from 34 billion rupees to 41 billion rupees. He also announced plans to launch satellite services for liver and kidney transplant programs in the province.The minister criticized the previous caretaker government, stating that they had undone the progress made between 2013-2015 by PTI and looted public funds. He urged the public to identify weaknesses in the healthcare system, which the government would address promptly.
He also praised Imran Khan as a leader of the Muslim world, saying that if released, he would continue to raise his voice for the Ummah. The ceremony included the distribution of Jwandon Cards to deserving female individuals, marking the official launch of the program.
