Two-Day Workshop on Bio-Statistical Data Handling and Analysis Held at UAF Constituent College, Toba Tek Singh
Dates: August 6–7, 2025
A two-day hands-on workshop titled “Bio-Statistical Data Handling and Analysis” was successfully conducted on August 6–7, 2025, at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Constituent College Toba Tek Singh. The workshop aimed to equip participants including MPhil students with practical skills in statistical data analysis using Excel, SPSS, and Minitab.
The Objectives of this eve:
To familiarize participants with descriptive and inferential statistical techniques.
To offer hands-on practice using statistical software.
To strengthen understanding of both parametric and non-parametric tests through real-world data applications.
The 1st day of the workshop commenced with registration and software setup, followed by a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Zia ur Rehman, Principal of UAF Toba Tek Singh.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Chairman of the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, delivered a brief orientation on the significance of statistical analysis in research.
A series of technical sessions were delivered by Mr. Wasif Shafique Lecturer (Statistics), Dr. Hafiz Bilal Murtaza, Lecturer (Statistics)
Covering topics such as Descriptive statistics, T-tests (One-sample, Independent, and Paired), ANOVA (One-way and Two-way), Chi-square test, Correlation (Pearson and Spearman), Linear and multiple regression, Non-parametric tests (Mann-Whitney, Wilcoxon, Kruskal-Wallis, Friedman) Logistic regression,PCA, Reliability analysis, Repeated testing for normality, Concluding with Q&A and practical demo
The second day was exclusively dedicated to hands-on software training, where participants applied statistical tests and modeling techniques under the guidance of Mr. Wasif Shafique, Dr. Hafiz Bilal Murtaza, Dr. Ali Hasan and Dr. Muhammad Tariq
Each session reinforced the workshop content with practical demonstrations using real datasets, ensuring conceptual clarity and technical fluency.
Participants appreciated the depth of content, clarity of instruction, and practical orientation of the workshop. Pre- and post-assessments were used to evaluate knowledge gains, showing a marked improvement in statistical understanding and software proficiency.
Almost 70 students from MPhil participated. The workshop not only strengthened their academic foundation but also prepared them for data-intensive research in the applied sciences.
Media Assets Available:
PowerPoint cover slide, Workshop photo highlights, PDF of schedule and resource materials.
The workshop concluded with final thoughts from Dr. Muhammad Farooq Khalid and Dr. Muhammad Tariq, highlighting the critical role of data analysis in modern research.
Participants were encouraged to continue applying the techniques learned and explore deeper statistical modeling in future studies. All faculty admin and lab staff along with participants served with a lavish lunch also were awarded certificated for successful completion of the workshop.
