Pakistan's hopes of winning the 2023 Cricket World Cup have been dealt a major blow with the news that fast bowler Naseem Shah is likely to be ruled out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury.
Shah, who is one of the most exciting young bowlers in the world, sustained the injury during Pakistan's Asia Cup match against India on September 18th. He was forced to leave the field after bowling just five balls and has not played since.
Pakistan coach Saqlain Mushtaq has admitted that Shah's injury is a major concern for the team. He said, "Naseem is a very important player for us and his injury is a big blow. We are still waiting for the final report from the doctors, but it is not looking good."
Mushtaq said that Pakistan would have to find a way to cope without Shah if he is ruled out of the World Cup. He said, "We have a few other good fast bowlers in the squad, but Naseem is a special talent. He is very quick and he has the ability to take wickets. We will have to find a way to replace him, but it will be difficult."
Shah's injury is a major blow to Pakistan's hopes of winning the World Cup. The team is already struggling to find form and they will now have to play without two of their best players.
However, Pakistan still have a number of world-class players in their squad, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Haris Rauf. If they can play to their potential, they will still be a force to be reckoned with in the World Cup.
