A high-level four-member delegation from Fiji National University has arrived in Pakistan for a five-day official visit from June 30 to July 4. The visit is being conducted under a collaborative initiative of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO).
The primary objective of the visit is to observe Pakistan’s modern agricultural systems, particularly focusing on smart farming, water-efficient irrigation technologies, drone applications in agriculture, and innovations in the dairy sector.
A high-level meeting was organized at the Ministry of Industries and Production in honor of the delegation, where Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan and the Secretary of the Ministry welcomed the guests.
On this occasion, Haroon Akhtar Khan highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to modernization and sustainable development in the agriculture sector and stressed the importance of enhancing South-South cooperation.
The Fijian delegation appreciated the progress Pakistan has made in agricultural technology and expressed hope that the visit would provide valuable insights to help improve Fiji’s own agricultural systems.
The National Productivity Organization arranged visits for the delegation to various research institutions and model farms in cities including Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Taxila, and Islamabad.
This visit not only showcases Pakistan’s agricultural capabilities to the world but also underscores the country’s pivotal role in promoting smart agriculture across the Asia-Pacific region.
