I’ve believed some of these at different points, and they always led me the wrong direction. God’s standard is holiness, but He meets us with grace and forms us over time. Real strength is found in submission to Him, and God delights in shaping men who are willing to repent, obey, and keep walking forward.

We live in a world telling men to invent themselves.
Define your own truth.
Create your own identity.
Write your own rules.

But Scripture tells a different story.

A man doesn’t create his role from scratch. He receives it.
From the God who formed him.
From the Father who designed him with purpose.

Freedom doesn’t come from throwing off God’s design.

There will always be a cost to conviction.

Jesus said, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake” (Matthew 5:10). Paul reminded Timothy that “all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Timothy 3:12).

So stand firm.
Take the risk of being misunderstood.
Hold fast to what is true.

When the crowd shifts, “be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13). And when fear whispers, remember the promise: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).

In 1941, a Polish prisoner named Maximilian Kolbe watched another man collapse in grief when he was selected to die in Auschwitz… a husband, a father, a man who still had someone waiting for him at home.

Kolbe simply said:
