Laureatką tegorocznej edycji Nagrody im. Mariana Sokołowskiego za najlepszą pracę magisterską obronioną w Instytucie Historii Sztuki UJ została mgr Weronika Pisarska.
Nagrodę specjalną Fundacji Wspierania Kultury IRSA otrzymał mgr Damian Galos.

'L’Âne qui joue de la lyre' – a New Book Published by IRSA

'L’Âne qui joue de la lyre' ('Donkey playing the lyre') – a legendary script by Jadwiga Kukułczanka, which enchanted Wojciech Jerzy Has and became his last unexecuted film project. Kukułczanka’s play is a ‘total work of art’ – a journey in time and space, full of surprising encounters, reaching back to the tradition of Socratic dialogues.

The structure of the play combines ludic elements in the spirit of commedia dell’arte with an erudite message; the spoken words are quotations or paraphrases from specific writings and literary works: the Bible, the Koran, the ancient epic Gilgamesh, literary classics. The result is a philosophical morality play, a spectacular metaphor of human destiny.

Jadwiga Kukułczanka’s script and memoirs are accompanied by essays by Krystyna Czerni and Tadeusz Lubelski explaining the phenomenon of this project.

On Wednesday 15th of May the Centre Pompidou in Paris will host a discussion on the work of Professor Andrei Nakov.

Professor Nakov was an art historian whose research was focused on the early 20th century avant garde movenents. He was closely connected with IRSA, which published his books on Kandinsky, Tatlin and Malewicz, as well as articles in in the “Artibus et Historiae” journal.

Cette soirée consacrée à l'historien d'art Andréi Nakov, disparu en 2022, est l'occasion d'évoquer son œuvre critique comme sa personnalité.

Antonio Paolucci (1939–2024)

On Sunday 4th of February Antonio Paolucci passed away in Florence.

Antonio Paolucci was an art historian and museum curator. He worked as the superintendent of the Polo Museale Fiorentino and the director general for cultural heritage in Tuscany before serving as a director of the Vatican Museums for ten years. He also held the position of Minister of Cultural Heritage from 1995 to 1996.
He pursued also his research work and prepared numerous papers and monograph devoted to Piero della Francesca, Michelangelo and Filippino Lippi among others.
Antonio Paolucci was connected with IRSA as a member of the Advisory Committee of “Artibus et Historiae” journal.

Juliusz A. Chrościcki (1942-2024)

On Tuesday 16th of January Juliusz A. Chrościcki passed away in Warsaw.

Professor Chrościcki was an art historian whose research was focused on the Baroque art, history of culture and iconography of power. With great passion he pursued his research work and trained the next generation art historians while working at the Warsaw University and at the John Paul II Pontifical University in Cracow.
Juliusz A. Chrościcki was closely connected with IRSA. He was a member of the Advisory Committee of “Artibus et Historiae” and Vice president of the IRSA Foundation for the Promotion of Culture.
