From Eastern Blocks II: "In the 1960s, a new urban plan for Sofia aimed to expand the city’s outskirts, particularly in the districts of Mladost in the southeast and Lyulin in the northwest, envisioned as new centres of communal life. Lyulin, planned by the municipal Sofproekt Design Bureau, was divided into 10 microdistricts, each with its own distinct layout and infrastructure, and remains Bulgaria’s largest and most populous residential hub."

From Eastern Blocks II: The housing shortage in post-war Tbilisi instigated residential construction on a mass scale, with entire new districts, such as Vake-Saburtalo and Gldani, built with prefabricated structures. Yet local ornaments, mosaics, and decorated facade panels were used to add distinctive touches and break the monotony of the standardised housing estates.
