7 August 1931. The first flight of the RWD-5. RWD 5 was a Polish touring and sports plane, constructed by the RWD team. It was famous by its transatlantic flight, being the smallest aircraft to cross the Atlantic.

Aircraft landed on the beach close to Januszyno on 12 April 1945.
Aircraft was piloted by Maj. Gunther Schack who survived the crash.
Remains were found on the beach 5 October 2018.

𝗡𝗼. 𝟯𝟬𝟯 (𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵) 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗻 was based at RAF Northolt from 2 August 1940 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗻 𝟯𝟭 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟵𝟰𝟬. Withdrawn from Battle of Britain for a rest on 11 October 1940, the squadron had claimed 126 kills in only six weeks.

31 July 1944. Antoine Marie Jean-Baptiste Roger, comte de Saint-Exupéry died, (Born 29 June 1900). He was a French writer, poet, aristocrat, journalist, and pioneering aviator.
He was shot down in his 𝗙-𝟱𝗕 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘀/𝗻 𝟰𝟮-𝟲𝟴𝟮𝟮𝟯 presumed on 31 July 1944 (perhaps offshore, south of Marseille, France).

About us


  • MMP was founded in 1996 by Roger Wallsgrove, to publish "Mushroom Model Magazine". This quarterly modelling magazine was developed from "Mushroom Monthly�, a club newsletter which ran from 1985 to 1995, achieving a world-wide reputation for quality articles, fearless and honest reviews, and a great sense of humour. The magazine's motto was "not taking serious modelling too seriously", but at the same time concentrating on well-researched and well-written modelling articles, honest and forthright reviews, and good photographic coverage of our chosen subjects. From 1997 the magazine was produced in collaboration with Robert Peczkowski and Artur Juszczak (Stratus), which meant a big leap in print quality and design. MMP expanded into book publication in 1999, and since then we have built up a list of books on aircraft and aviation history, plus military vehicles and military history. Books on naval topics are coming soon! MMP books are sold around the world, and have received great critical acclaim. In 2006 the decision was made to stop producing MMM, to concentrate on book production, the books being a logical follow-on with much the same overall philosophy. Our emphasis is on well researched and written books, with top-quality photos and artwork, printed to a high standard but still affordable. We are always happy to talk to potential new authors and contributors. Our current "stable" of authors is truly multinational, from Australia to Argentina and from Canada to Japan. A look at our current range will show the broad range of topics we have covered, and we are always open to new ideas. No aircraft or tank is too obscure, no campaign too minor, to be considered! We cover topics bigger publishers would not consider. Even if you don't want to write a complete book, we are always interested in photos and archive material to help with our many projects. Please contact the editor. MMPbooks is run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts - all our profits are used to improve and expand our range of publications.
