Our Story

EN Main mission of Positive Thursdays is promoting widely named reggae music and carribean culture, artists and music festivals and shows of artists that come to Poland. History It all started in 2005 when I fascinated radio and decided to try myself little students radio station at my university. Initially, the program was called Positive Wednesdays, and the emission took place in the Student Radio BIT, which belonged to the DSW (University of Lower Silesia in Wroclaw). After several months of intense preparation and training skills in from of microphone there was a chance to move myself to local radio station. Radio LUZ in Wroclaw has become a place where a new program about widely named reggae music start broadcasting. With moving to other radio station also date was changed and from then radio my radio show become to named Positive Thursday. As the name says – you can listen to it on every fourth day of the week from 1 June 2006. Initially, radio broadcasted only on Internet, however, the aspirations were very high – we measured in ether. Broadcast time of the program changed twice. In the beginning , it took place on 23 (11PM), since October 2006, the Radio LUZ started it’s broadcasting in on radio waves within the city of Wroclaw in the meantime Positive Thursdays have been moved to 21 (9PM). Currently, the Radio LUZ expanded its reach and can be listened in the city of Wrocław and neighbouring communities within a radius of 50km. What causes the radio station itself and also Positive Thursdays become a local broadcast. Still Radio broadcasts it’s streams on Internet which makes possibility to listen to it almost anywhere in the world. Throughout the years program has evolved in a very dynamic way. People could and still can listen new releases, trivia from the world of reggae and what is the strength of Positive Thursdays – a unique interviews with conscious reggae artists. Until now, interviews with artists such as : Burning Spear, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Bunny “Striker” Lee, Alpha Blondy, Sizzla Kalonji, Capleton, Ky-Mani Marley, Steel Pulse, Don Carlos, Ijahman Levi, Bonjo I A Binghi Noah (African Head Charge), Anthony B, The Abbisynians, Pentateuch, Raging Fyah, Chantelle Ernandez, Michael Prophet.Guru & Solar (Jazzmatazz), Arrested Development, Michael Rose, Adrian Sherwood, Misty In Roots, Junior Reid, Gentleman, Ghetto Priest, Shaggy, The Skatalites, Channel One Sound System, Zion Train, Patrice, Overproof Sound System, Tanya Stephens was presented on air. (this is just a small list, full list is about 120 interviews). Many times in Positive Thursdays guest appearances included native reggae scene artists such as Natural Dread Killaz, Stage Of Unity, East West Rockers sound system that played their live sets on air. In addition, the Positive Thursdays held a special radio concerts by artists such as Natural Dread Killaz (November 2010) – promo concert of their second album “Ile Lat”, dub collective Zebra (November 2011), and Mesajah acoustic set (March 2012) there are also planned more concerts. From 1st March 2016 Positive Thursadys ends it's cooperation with Radio LUZ, and are now looking for a new platforms of spreading roots & culture message. PL Głównym założeniem Pozytywnych Czwartków jest promocja szeroko pojętej muzyki reggae oraz kultury karaibskiej, jej artystów oraz festiwali i imprez bezpośrednio bądź pośrednio z nią związanych. Trochę historii Wszystko zaczęło się w 2005 roku kiedy to zafascynowany radiem postanowiłem spróbować swoich sił w rozgłośni swojej uczelni. Początkowo program nazywał się Pozytywne Środy a jego emisja miała miejsce w Studenckim Radiu BIT, które należało do DSW (Dolnośląskiej Szkoły Wyższej we Wrocławiu). Po kilku miesiącach intensywnych przygotowań i szkolenia swoich zdolności przed mikrofonem pojawiła się szansa przejścia do większej rozgłośni akademickiej. Akademickie Radio LUZ we Wrocławiu stało się miejscem gdzie pojawiła się nowa audycja z szeroko pojmowaną muzyką reggae. Zmienił się również dzień emisji. Pozytywne Czwartki jak sama nazwa mówi – wybrzmiewają w każdy czwarty dzień tygodnia od 1 czerwca 2006 roku. Początkowo radio nadawało przez Internet jednakże aspiracje były wysokie – mierzyliśmy w eter. Godzina emisji programu zmieniała się dwukrotnie. Początkowo miała ona miejsce o 23. Od października 2006 roku Akademickie Radio LUZ zaczęło swoje nadawanie w eterze w obrębie miasta Wrocław w tym czasie Pozytywne Czwartki zostały przeniesione na godzinę 21. Obecnie Akademickie Radio LUZ poszerzyło swój zasięg i nadaje na terenie miasta Wrocław oraz gminach ościennych w promieniu 50km. Co powoduje, że sama rozgłośnia a co za tym idzie również audycja nabrała charakteru lokalnego. Wciąż radio nadaje swój stream internetowy co sprawia, że można go słuchać niemal w każdym miejscu na świecie. Przez cały czas audycja rozwijała się w bardzo dynamiczny sposób. Słuchacze mogli i nadal mogą usłyszeć nowości wydawnicze, ciekawostki ze świata reggae oraz to co stanowi o sile Pozytywnych Czwartków – unikalne wywiady z artystami którzy odwiedzają Polskę. Do tej pory pojawiły się wywiady m.in. z: Burning Spear, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Bunny “Striker” Lee, Alpha Blondy, Sizzla Kalonji, Capleton, Ky-Mani Marley, Steel Pulse, Don Carlos, Ijahman Levi, Bonjo I A Binghi Noah (African Head Charge), Anthony B, The Abbisynians, Pentateuch, Raging Fyah, Chantelle Ernandez, Michael Prophet.Guru & Solar (Jazzmatazz), Arrested Development, Michael Rose, Adrian Sherwood, Misty In Roots, Junior Reid, Gentleman, Ghetto Priest, Shaggy, The Skatalites, Channel One Sound System, Zion Train, Patrice, Overproof Sound System, Tanya Stephens i wiele wiele innych. Wielokrotnie w Pozytywnych Czwartkach pojawiali się goście również rodzimej sceny reggae m.in. Natural Dread Killaz, Stage Of Unity, East West Rockers oraz sound systemy które prezentowały na żywo swoje sety. Ponadto w ramach Pozytywnych Czwartków odbyły się specjalne radiowe koncerty takich artystów jak Natural Dread Killaz (listopad 2010) – koncert promujący drugi album NDK – Ile Lat, dubowego kolektywu Zebra (listopad 2011) czy Mesajah akustycznie (marzec 2012), planowane są również kolejne koncerty. Od 1 marca 2016 roku Pozytywne Czwartki zakończyły współpracę z Akademickim Radiem LUZ i rozpoczęły się poszukiwania dla nowych platform w szerzeniu muzyki korzeni!
