FIRST WARNING WEATHER: Erin is now a powerful CAT 4 Hurricane. Tropical Storm Warnings remain in effect for the Turks and Caicos and the SE Bahamas. Tropical Storm Watch for the central Bahamas. Gusty winds and up to 6" of rain possible through tomorrow. Erin not expected to hit land, but it will cause dangerous swells and riptides along the eastern seaboard through the week.

FIRST WARNING WEATHER: Hurricane Erin is a strong Cat 4 hurricane, located about 105 mi (170 km) North Northeast of Grand Turk Island. It's moving NW at 13 mph (20 KM/HR). Tropical Storm Warnings continue for the Turks and Caicos and SE Bahamas. Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for the Central Bahamas. 2-4" with locally up to 6" of rain expected through tomorrow for those in the warning area. Erin is not expected to hit any land areas, though rough surf expected along the U.S. coast for the week.

TROPICAL UPDATE: NOAA Hurricane Hunters are out investigating Erin this morning, and in their first pass through, they have found Erin to now be a Major Category 4 Hurricane with winds of 130 MPH. There is now well-defined eye as the center is located about 170 miles NE of Anguilla in the Northern Leeward Islands, moving towards the WNW at 20 MPH. Erin is expected to remain a Cat.4 as it moves north of Puerto Rico, then sharply turn northward out into open waters of the Atlantic, passing west of Bermuda. - Dakota Hunter
