FIRST WARNING WEATHER: A tsunami is a series of large ocean waves caused by sudden movements under or near the sea-most often underwater earthquakes (like the recent 8.8 magnitude off Russia). Other causes include volcanic eruptions, landslides, or even meteor impacts.

When the ocean floor shifts suddenly, it displaces a huge amount of water, sending waves across the ocean at high speeds. These waves can grow massively in height as they reach the shore, causing severe flooding and damage.

⚠️ If you’re ever in a tsunami warning zone:

Move to higher ground immediately

Avoid the coast

Follow official alerts and evacuation orders

Stay safe. Stay aware.

FIRST WARNING WEATHER: An 8.8 magnitude earthquake off the east coast of Russia has led to Tsunami Warnings and Advisories across the Pacific region, including the Hawaiian Islands, Guam, Aleutian Islands, Western California Coast, and other Pacific Territories

🌊 Waves are moving around 500mph and the first wave is expected to reach Hawaii in approximately 2 hours, with wave heights potentially reaching up to 10 feet.

If you have family or friends in these areas, please contact them immediately and make sure they are aware. Everyone in affected zones should move to higher ground immediately and follow all local evacuation orders and safety alerts. Stay safe, stay alert, spread to word and stay tuned to official updates from your local emergency services.

FIRST WARNING WEATHER: 🌊 Tsunami Alert - A massive M8.7 earthquake off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula has triggered tsunami warnings and advisories across the Pacific.

Hawaii: Now under tsunami warning. Waves of 1–3 m possible. Evacuations in progress.

Alaska: Tsunami warning for Aleutians and some coastal areas.

US West Coast: Advisory in effect (CA, OR, WA). Stay away from beaches and harbors.

Japan: Tsunami warnings issued. Small waves already observed.

Pacific Islands & South America: Warnings/advisories for multiple regions incl. Guam, Chile, Ecuador.
