People who celebrate “priDEMONth” take pleasure in this:
Pride in self
Pride in mutilating God’s image
Pride in pretending you are an animal
Pride in sexual perversion
Pride in mental illness
Pride in homosexuality
Pride in rebellion against the creator
Pride in distorting the truth
Pride in passions of the flesh
Pride in sexual indulgence and or**es
🏳️‍🌈👺

A true Christian does not celebrate the passions. We struggle against them. We do not redefine truth to fit our desires. We conform ourselves to the Truth revealed by Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The Christian calling is not self-exaltation but repentance.
Not self-expression but self-denial.
Not “my will be done” but “Thy will be done.”

“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” — James 4:6 (KJV)

This month of June, let us remember that pride was the sin that cast Lucifer from heaven, while humility is the path walked by the saints. 😇

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us and save us. 🙏

Holy Prophet Isaiah (8th century B.C.)

📜 Centuries before Christ was born, the Prophet Isaiah proclaimed His coming to the world.

The Holy Prophet Isaiah was one of the greatest prophets of the Old Testament, chosen by God to speak truth to a rebellious people during a time of spiritual decline in Israel and Judah. Filled with the Holy Spirit, he fearlessly called the people to repentance, righteousness, and faithfulness to the true God.

Saint Isaiah was granted heavenly visions of great glory and divine mystery. He beheld the Lord seated upon His throne surrounded by the Seraphim crying: “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of Hosts.” Through divine revelation, he foretold the coming of the Messiah with astonishing clarity — proclaiming the Virgin Birth, the suffering of Christ, and the salvation that would come through Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Because of these prophecies, the Holy Fathers often called him the “Fifth Evangelist.” His words continue to strengthen the faithful and reveal the eternal plan of God for mankind.

According to ancient tradition, the Prophet Isaiah suffered martyrdom under the wicked King Manasseh and was sawn in two for speaking the truth of God without fear.

Holy Prophet Isaiah, pray to God for us. 🙏

Venerable Shio Mgvime of Georgia (6th century)

⛰️ He fled into the wilderness — and found the Kingdom of God within the silence of the caves.

Saint Shio Mgvime was one of the great Thirteen Assyrian Fathers who came to Georgia to strengthen the Orthodox Faith and enlighten the people through holy asceticism. Leaving behind worldly comfort, he journeyed into the harsh wilderness near Mtskheta where he embraced a life of strict fasting, prayer, humility, and complete devotion to Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

He settled in a deep cave, and through his holiness many disciples gathered around him. From this sacred place arose the famous Monastery of Shio-Mgvime, which became a great center of prayer and spiritual struggle in Georgia.

Saint Shio became known for miracles, discernment, and profound humility. Even wild beasts were said to grow peaceful in his presence, for the grace of God rested richly upon him. Though hidden from the world in caves and solitude, his light shone throughout the land and strengthened countless souls toward repentance and salvation.

Venerable Father Shio, pray to God for us. 🙏

Holy Martyr Christopher of Lycia, Asia Minor (+249)

🛡️ The world feared his strength — but Christ transformed his soul.

Saint Christopher lived during the reign of Emperor Decius, a time of terrible persecution against Christians. Though physically powerful and feared by many, his heart was ultimately conquered by the truth of Christ.

After receiving Holy Baptism, Saint Christopher boldly confessed Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ before rulers, soldiers, and persecutors alike. Refusing to offer sacrifice to idols, he endured savage beatings, imprisonment, fire, and countless torments with unwavering faith.

Neither threats nor suffering could separate him from Christ. Through patience and divine grace, many who witnessed his endurance came to believe in the true God. Finally, Saint Christopher received the crown of martyrdom by the sword, entering into eternal glory with the saints.

His life reminds us that no man is beyond repentance, and that the strength given by God is greater than all the power of this fallen world.

Holy Martyr Christopher, pray to God for us. 🙏

👉 Icon note: This exquisite 1978 (Δ1ΟΗ) icon, was written by the hand of the late Monk Kallinikos of the historic Stavrovouni Monastery in Cyprus.

Monk Kallinikos (born Kostas P. Mammous) passed away on January 23, 2011, at the age of 91. He is widely regarded as one of the most significant Byzantine iconographers of the modern age and played a pivotal role in preserving and teaching the traditional techniques of icon painting in Cyprus. His legacy continues today, notably through the Kallinikeio Municipal Museum in his hometown of Athienou, which preserves his work, personal collection, and documentation of his techniques—ensuring that his vision continues to inspire and anchor our faith in the modern age.

👉 Version History of the “Dog-Headed” St. Christopher Icon ☦️

This rare Byzantine depiction of Holy Martyr Christopher reflects an ancient Eastern tradition portraying the saint as a “cynocephalus” (dog-headed figure). Early Christian and medieval sources sometimes described distant tribes as dog-headed peoples, and some traditions connected St. Christopher to these accounts before his conversion to Christ.

Over time, different regions interpreted the image differently:

• Early Byzantine & Eastern Traditions — accepted symbolic or legendary depictions of Christopher as a cynocephalus.
• Medieval Greek & Balkan Icons — continued the tradition in military martyr form with gold backgrounds and imperial garments.
• Russian Tradition — preserved older examples but later discouraged new dog-headed depictions.
• Western Christianity — gradually replaced this form with the familiar giant ferryman carrying Christ across the river.

The icon is not meant to portray monstrosity, but transformation: even the most feared or “foreign” man can become sanctified through Christ. ☦️

Monk Martyr Nicholas of Vunena, Thessaly, Greece (+902)

🔥 He laid aside earthly honour and chose the crown of martyrdom.

Saint Nicholas of Vunena was a righteous servant of Christ who lived during the reign of Emperor Leo the Wise. Though known for courage and nobility, his heart belonged not to worldly glory, but to Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

After withdrawing to the region of Vunena in Thessaly, he gave himself to prayer, fasting, and repentance. There, when enemies of the Faith came upon him, Saint Nicholas refused to deny Christ. He endured cruel torments, was pierced with weapons, and finally beheaded, receiving the unfading crown of martyrdom.

Through his holy struggle, Saint Nicholas reminds us that true strength is not found in power, rank, or reputation, but in remaining faithful to Christ unto the end.

Holy Monk Martyr Nicholas, pray to God for us. 🙏

Holy Ascension of Our Lord, God and Saviour Jesus Christ 🙏

💫 Today the earth beholds a mystery beyond comprehension — human nature ascends into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father in glory.

Forty days after His glorious Resurrection from the dead, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ gathered His disciples upon the Mount of Olives near Bethany. Having completed the work of salvation through His Passion, Crucifixion, and Resurrection, He prepared to ascend bodily into Heaven.

Before ascending, Christ commanded His Apostles not to depart from Jerusalem, but to await the coming of the Holy Spirit, saying:

“Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

Then, lifting His hands in blessing, the Lord ascended visibly into Heaven while His disciples watched with fear, awe, and worship. A radiant cloud received Him from their sight, and two Angels appeared saying:

“Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into Heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into Heaven.” (Acts 1:11)

The Ascension is not the departure of Christ from His people, but the glorification of human nature itself. In ascending bodily into Heaven, Christ opens the gates of Paradise to mankind and raises fallen humanity to communion with God.

The Holy Fathers teach that Our Lord did not abandon the earth, but remains invisibly present with His faithful unto the end of the world. Today human flesh sits enthroned in glory above the Cherubim and Seraphim.

Saint John Chrysostom writes that the Angels were astonished seeing a human body ascend above the heavenly hosts, for through Christ, mankind is called to become partakers of divine life by grace.

This great Feast fills the Church with both joy and longing:
joy because Christ has triumphed over death and exalted mankind,
and longing because the faithful await His glorious Second Coming.

“O God, when Thou hadst fulfilled Thy dispensation for our sake, uniting things on earth with the heavens, Thou didst ascend in glory, O Christ our God, departing not hence, but remaining inseparable, and crying unto them that love Thee: I am with you, and no one shall be against you.” ☦️

Holy Ascension of Our Lord, God and Saviour Jesus Christ, save us and have mercy on us! 🙏

St. Arsenius the Great (+449)

🏜️ “Flee, be silent, pray always.” In the silence of the desert, Saint Arsenius became greater than emperors, for he conquered not nations — but his own soul.

Saint Arsenius the Great was born into a noble Roman family and received one of the finest educations of his age. Learned in philosophy, rhetoric, and the secular sciences, he became renowned for wisdom and refinement. Because of this, Emperor Theodosius the Great entrusted him with the education of his sons Arcadius and Honorius within the imperial court of Constantinople.

Though surrounded by luxury, honour, and worldly glory, the soul of Arsenius found no peace among earthly things. Hearing the voice of God calling him to a higher life, he abandoned the palace, wealth, and prestige of the empire and fled secretly to the Egyptian desert seeking salvation.

Arriving among the great desert fathers at Scetis, Saint Arsenius became a disciple of Abba John the Short and embraced extreme humility and asceticism. Though once honoured among emperors, he now desired only silence, repentance, prayer, and tears.

The Fathers say he continually prayed:

“O God, lead me in the way of salvation.”

And a heavenly voice answered him:

“Arsenius, flee from men and thou shalt be saved.”

He withdrew deeper into solitude, speaking little and labouring greatly. He spent nights in prayer and days weaving baskets, eating sparingly and weeping constantly over his sins. Though filled with profound wisdom, he preferred silence over speech, saying:

“I have often repented of having spoken, but never of having remained silent.”

Saint Arsenius became a shining example of inner stillness, humility, and unceasing repentance. Even the desert fathers marvelled at his discernment and purity of heart. His face often shone with grace from continual communion with God.

After a long life of ascetic struggle, Saint Arsenius reposed peacefully in the Lord at nearly 100 years of age in the year 449.

The holy desert father teaches us that salvation is not found in worldly greatness, but in repentance, humility, silence, and prayer.

Venerable Father Arsenius the Great, pray unto God for us! ☦️
