Journal UMinho Science (JUS) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal exclusively run by students and alumni from the University of Minho and other Portuguese universities. Journal UMinho Science (JUS) é uma revista científica da Universidade do Minho dirigida por estudantes dos três ciclos de estudos da Escola de Ciências (ECUM), com publicação contínua e formato digital. A revista JUS tem por objet

ivo promover e divulgar a investigação científica dos estudantes, professores e investigadores da Universidade de Minho, bem como os de fora desta. Além disso, o foco são as áreas da biologia, química, física, matemática e ciências da terra, assim como outras áreas científicas e tecnológicas.

É de realçar que a JUS constitui um fórum para a divulgação e discussão de questões e notícias relacionadas com a ciência.

Entre os dias 18 e 20 de maio, bares de todo o país transformam-se em espaços de partilha de conhecimento, abrindo portas a cientistas para sessões informais de divulgação científica. Em Portugal, o festival Pint of Science celebra a ciência em 12 localidades: Almada, Aveiro, Braga, Bragança, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Faro, Funchal, Guarda, Lisboa, Oeiras e Porto.

🍻 E se a ciência saísse dos laboratórios para se tornar tema de conversa de bar? É precisamente essa a proposta do festival Pint of Science que junta investigadores e público em conversas informais e descontraídas para partilhar ideias e descobertas científicas.

Em Braga, o festival decorre nos bares Galeria 101, Estúdio 22 e Letraria. A 9ª edição local dá destaque a áreas como biologia e saúde, física e química, ciências sociais e à relação entre arte e ciência, com sessões que abordam perguntas como "E se um médico lhe receitasse teatro, em vez de remédio?", "O que um verme sabe sobre perder o equilíbrio?" ou "Envelhencer como iguais?".

Cada sessão conta com dois investigadores convidados, que apresentarão brevemente o seu trabalho, seguindo-se de um momento de debate e interação com o público.

💵 Os bilhetes já podem ser adquiridos online, com um custo simbólico de 2,5€ (compra antecipada) ou 3€ (à porta, mediante disponibilidade). O programa completo pode ser consultado no site oficial e nas redes sociais do Pint of Science Portugal.

On May 6, Journal UMinho Science hosted the workshop: “The Science of Writing Scientific Articles”. During the event, participants had the opportunity to learn interactively about the key aspects of the structure of a scientific article, writing, and effective scientific communication.

Special thanks to Professor and Researcher Rui Oliveira of CBMA for his participation, providing an experienced opinion about writing and publication of scientific article.

JUS was present at "Dia da Pós-graduação e Empregabilidade em Ciências", an event organized by the School of Sciences from ! 🔬✨
It’s been a week since this event, where we had the opportunity to present our journal and show how people can get involved and contribute.
JUS remains committed to giving a voice to science and bringing the academic community closer to new opportunities. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and was part of this moment, and to the for the invitation, the opportunity, and for funding the production of our bookmarks and badges 📚

Have you been wondering who makes the magic happen at JUS? Who reads and edits the articles?
Well, let us introduce you to our team!
JUS is made up of four committees, each with different roles, all working together to bring you the best research in the University of Minho.
The Review Committee is the one that first receives the article, conducting a detailed reading and critical analysis of the content. The aim is to assess whether the information presented is logical, coherent, and valid from a scientific point of view.
Then, the Editorial Committee evaluates and decides on the publication of submitted works, based on the recommendations of reviewers.
The article goes through the Graphic Design Review Committee, which performs the final graphic and linguistic review of manuscripts, ensuring that the formatting, graphic content, language, and scientific terms of the documents are suitable for publication.
The Ethics Committee is responsible for producing and reviewing JUS ethical standards, ensuring that all JUS publications and articles are ethically up to date.
The Publicity Committee disseminates the published article, as well as other events promoted by the Journal.
Finally, the Advisory Committee, formed by ECUM professors, advises JUS members on future decisions to be taken and monitors the progress and evolution of the journal.

Let us reintroduce ourselves - Journal UMinho Science (JUS) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal exclusively run by students and alumni from the University of Minho (UM) and other Portuguese universities. We bring together contributors from all scientific fields, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration across diverse scientific areas of such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, medicine, and many others.

The goals of JUS are to promote and disseminate scientific research of University of Minho students and teachers, as well as researchers outside the university, from all departments that focus on science.

Publication in JUS is not for profit, any publication is open access, thus, will not be subject to any publication fee, and the articles will be accessible to readers free of charge. JUS members exclusively perform volunteer work, not being remunerated for their duties in the magazine.
