Dedicated hotel manager and natural born story teller, Nelson loves small personal ambiences, which show that there was love and dedication put into, where one can experience a million different details all working together. orked in for most of his career at unique places with a great share of it being at Palacio Belmonte, where he personally oversees each guest’s stay, being more like a local friend who really knows the city well and will unbiasedly recommend the best that it has to offer. The travels he shares on his Blog, Facebook ,Twitter and Pinterest are mostly friend generated, as he feels that the best way to get to know a city is through an insider, who can share feelings and emotions about sites, food and people as passionately as he does about Lisbon. I spent an unforgettable day at INARI, the new restaurant I visited with my friend Chef Luís Espadana at Quinta da Comporta. A native of the Alentejo coastline, Luís has been by Chef Vítor Sobral’s side for over 30 years — and now, as Executive Chef at INARI, he gives life to a menu rooted in Portuguese comfort food. Dishes built on identity, seasonality, and a deep respect for origin.

That morning began with Luís unveiling a 20‑kg loin of bluefin tuna, holding it like a sacred object. “This one’s for the tartar,” he said, a quiet pride in his voice. From there, we stepped into the Quinta’s potager — a lush organic garden where Luís grows most of what he cooks.

In the middle of it all we met Modi, a Nepalese immigrant and the keeper of this green kingdom. His care was visible in every leaf, every row, every proud glance. This garden breathes love and labor.

Luís picked garlic flowers and sunflowers as he prepared to cook. Back in the kitchen, under the golden light of the pass, he grilled tiger prawns and served them with a creamy, soulful rice. There were rice balls too, and a bright, zesty ceviche — each dish telling a story of place and purpose.

📸 These photos feel different — I edited them with my Kodak Portra preset this time, instead of my usual Gold 200. Softer tones. Warmer textures. More emotion. It just felt right.

🍽️ This wasn’t just about food. It was about craft. About roots. About growing with intention. About friendship.

🏆 The Best Fish in the World… and the Best Travel Film of 2025!

Today I have the honor of presenting the 8 international awards won by my Matosinhos film to Luísa Salgueiro , Mayor of the City of Matosinhos, and Marta Pontes , City Councilor for Tourism.

Among them is the Golden Statue for Best Travel Film at the Cannes World Film Festival 2025.

Holding it still feels surreal. This film was born out of love for this city, its people, and the sacred rituals of food and the sea.

To see it recognized around the world is deeply humbling.

Comporta has this effortless magic, barefoot elegance, salty breeze, and a rhythm that slows you down in the best way.

This is the kind of place I love to photograph.

Natural textures, golden light, honest food, and people who cook with soul.

🦐 Scarlet prawn — my all-time favorite dish, rich, bold, and kissed by fire.

🥣 Ceviche — bright, citrusy, and alive like the ocean breeze.

🍝 Beetroot pasta with burrata — earthy, creamy, and unexpectedly comforting.

🌮 Tuna tacos — a crunchy, spicy bite of pure summer.

🍸 Margarita — sharp, green, and salty like the sea air.

🍓 Raspberry cocktail — sweet, refreshing, and perfect at golden hour.

📷 My lens chases these moments, raw, warm, and full of flavor.

This is the spirit of Comporta.
