Let’s Watch a Cycling Race Here in the Algarve! 🚲💨

The Volta ao Algarve, an internationally renowned event registered in the UCI Europe Tour calendar, is a road bicycle racing stage race held annually in the Algarve, Portugal. Since 2017, it has been organised as a 2.HC event on the UCI Europe Tour. The race became part of the new UCI ProSeries in 2020. Due to its early February position in the European calendar, it is used by many riders to prepare for the Spring Classics. This year, the winner was from Denmark – Jonas Vingegaard. But Portugal has the most country wins by far (25), followed by Belgium (4).

I was able to watch the fourth and penultimate stage of the 51st Volta ao Algarve, which started in Albufeira and finished in Faro, in a 175.2-kilometer race. Milan Fretin (Cofidis) won the fourth stage of the Volta ao Algarve.

I found this tidbit interesting: RTP and Eurosport, partners of the Portuguese Cycling Federation, broadcast the entire race, and it was shown all over the world. They used:
• 10 cameras
• 1 drone
• 1 helicopter
• 1 airplane
• 4 motorcycles
• 20km of fiber cable

My friend Harriet invited me to this Ireland Portugal Business Network Members Meeting Members Networking Session last week at the University of Algarve TEC CAMPUS in Faro. I had no idea what I was walking into, but I wanted to catch up with Harriet and I thought it would be a fun way to see what is moving and shaking in the Algarve. It was so cool and a great opportunity to connect with inspiring entrepreneurs, business leaders, and innovators who are transforming the Algarve into a thriving hub for technology and investment.

The special guest Jessica Costa, CEO of Algarve STP | UALG TEC Campus shared insights into the University of Algarve’s Accelerator program and its mission to attract global talent, investors, and digital nomads to the region.

The session also featured member pitches and highlights from TEC Campus businesses. It was another chance to network, share ideas, and be part of a dynamic business ecosystem! The event was open to members and non members and was free of charge.

Yay, Jax! 🎉🙌🏼💥🌟🩰💐 What a week! 🤩

So last year at this time, I had never heard of YAGP (Youth America Grand Prix), the largest and “most influential youth ballet competition in the world”; “a game changer in the dance world.” I found out about it over the summer when my friend and fellow American dance mom Patrice informed me when both of our boys were doing their Royal Ballet School Summer Intensive in London.

Well, what are the chances that YGP decides to come to Portugal THIS YEAR for the very first time… and not in Lisbon nor Porto, but FARO - our very own backyard!! 🤯🔥🙏🏽 Jax performed a contemporary solo and was in great company with 8 of his phenomenally talented studio colleagues who also competed! It was such an incredible week of dance and we’re so grateful that Jax had this opportunity to compete in the semi-finals with some of the best dancers in the world! 🌎

At the end of the week, Jax was recognized as one of the Top 12 Contemporary Pre-Competitive Men and Women (among 90+ phenomenal dancers!) 🙏🏽🔥💫.

Also, Jax had the opportunity to make more dance friends from other parts of the world, including friends of his Hungarian friend Berci who he met last summer at the Royal Ballet School Summer Intensive!

Thank you for the incredible recognition and experience! 🙏🏽🌟❤️ To say we are beyond floored and excited about the Finals invitation is a huge understatement!! Of course, thank you CAMADA Centro Coreográfico who have made this all possible! 😘🥰❤️💪🏽

Let's Take a Sneak Peek at a Music/Creative Retreat! 🎤🎵

Earlier this month, SoundBunker, the Algarve’s Finest Recording, Film and Photography Studio, hosted its very first creative retreat. 🎵🎸🎛️🎤💥🌟

It was a transformative 4-Day Music Retreat with Exclusive Mentorship, featuring Jamie Safir, keyboardist for Kylie Minogue, Will Young, Brand New Heavies (among others).

It really was a wonderful week where artists of all levels were able to embrace their creative greatness, gain invaluable industry insight, and master their craft, culminating in the first artist showcase at Dano’s in Quinta do Lago.

It was so inspiring, and I was bowled over by the amount of musical talent there is here in the Algarve. You’ve got to watch out for the artists that were part of this retreat (you heard about them here first!)

Woohoo! Last Sunday on 12th January, 2025, Faro celebrated the inauguration of the new Praia de Faro bridge, and we were also there to celebrate!

After nearly two decades of anticipation, both residents of Faro and visitors from around the globe can now enjoy improved access to our favorite Praia de Faro. Originally proposed in 2008, the project faced numerous challenges and evolved significantly, with its cost rising from an initial estimate of 1.5 million euros to a final expenditure of 8.5 million euros.

Spanning 180 meters, the bridge enhances connectivity to the beach and offers a more enjoyable experience for pedestrians and cyclists, thanks to its dedicated lane.

This modern structure marks a major improvement in access to Faro Beach, streamlining traffic flow and ensuring greater safety for all users. Additionally, the upgraded roads pave the way for further development and requalification efforts on the island, improving infrastructure for both locals and tourists.

It’s been a while since I posted a skincare video so here is a new one! 😅 In this video, I once again go to my beautiful friend Mara at Mara Herequechand Anti-Aging Clinic in for my treatment. She has since moved to a gorgeous new facility so you will see it here! 🤩😍

In this video, Mara gave me a Bionic Peel and RadioFrequencey treatment! It is best to do peels during the winter so your skin is not too exposed to the sun.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, Everyone! Happy 2025! 🌟☀️💥❤️🤑

This is how we celebrated the last day of 2024 and kicked in the new year.

I started the morning by having a manicure and pedicure done by the talented Neia Ferreira in Quarteira / neiaferreiraestetica

And then Jax and I went to see WICKED for the second time! We absolutely LOVE this movie (and as you’ll see in the video, Jax can read the GRIMMERIE! 😅🧙🏽)

Do you have new year’s goals? My 2025 goals:
🌟 That I continue to grow and bravely become my most authentic self, where I share my gifts with everyone around me.
🌟 That I continue to open my heart to new friendships and cherish my current connections.
