For Jejum #42, Grupo Coral do Auto-Tune returns to where it all started: Rua das Gaivotas 6, Lisbon, for an open residency culminating in a public performance 🌚

It is safe to say that Auto-Tune is one of the most transformative technologies in contemporary popular music. But what happens when it ceases to be a corrective tool and becomes compositional material, a choral device, and an object of listening in itself?

During the residency, Grupo Coral do Auto-Tune invites the public into the rehearsal space to follow the work as it unfolds. These are neither concerts nor formal presentations, but moments of ongoing creation shaped by repetition, hesitation, detours, and unresolved decisions.

With a fluid lineup and a semi-improvised repertoire, the group explores Auto-Tune through the abstraction of the pop song, continuous mantra, suspension, and silence. Between doing and not doing, between sound and its absence, rehearsal and performance, authenticity and artifice, collective forms of listening emerge and remain deliberately unstable.

By making the process visible, the residency shifts familiar boundaries: rehearsal moves closer to performance, while the presence of an audience no longer guarantees spectacle. You are welcome to visit us there! What changes when someone is watching? What remains exactly the same?

We return to Espaço do Tempo for the next Jejum, bringing together the sounds of Aires, Carga Aérea and alga, accompanied by Mafalda Melim on video, for a week long residency of exploration that pushes boundaries.

Each session navigates all possible combinations — solos, duos, and trios — transforming the space into a ritualistic laboratory of improvisation, where sounds collide, merge, and reinvent themselves. The video adds an enchanting, experimental dimension, expanding the perception of sound and presence.

The encounters culminate in open performances for the community: long journeys where the unexpected reigns, improvisation is absolute, and each moment is unique, irreproducible, and truly unheard-of.

Glasgow’s own Conna Haraway lands with us for a night out at Porto's RCA. DJ, producer, and founder of INDEX:Records and co:clear, he’s been carving out a space where ambient haze meets dub-techno pulse, IDM textures dissolve into UK bass and broken rhythms. Fresh off features from Bandcamp’s Best of Ambient, The Guardian, and BBC Radio 6 (The 6 Mix w/ Mary Anne Hobbs).

Opening the night, Aires drifts in with his own strain of ecstatic ambient—ASMR-laced textures, ethereal drones, and flashes of emo-tinted melody. Definitely not one for the cynics.
