Mastering sessions here at Sound Pressure Studios are all about details, translation, and emotion.

It’s the last step where everything comes into focus — balancing clarity, punch, depth, and vibe so the song feels lively on any system.

We mainly work in the box, using a chain of our favorite mastering tools: Capitol Mastering Compressor, Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor, Hitsville Mastering EQ, UAD Oxide Tape, FabFilter Pro-Q3 and Pro-L2, mid/side processing, and other subtle touches to help the track breathe with purpose.
Every move is made with the artist’s style and dynamics in mind, keeping the mix’s soul intact while giving it the polish it needs for today’s standards.

It’s all about serving the song — with precision, heart, and the experience we’ve gained through years of producing, mixing, and mastering at SPS.

On this day, a few critical albums that influenced Leopoldo Lopes' journey were released — like Céline Dion's "Let's Talk About Love" in '97, The Offspring's "Conspiracy of One" in 2000, and Velvet Acid Christ's "Twisted Thought Generator," also in 2000.

Back then, Leopoldo was working as a recording and engineering assistant, totally immersed in sessions that would shape how he views production, recording, mixing, and mastering for years to come. Those experiences were priceless and laid the groundwork for everything he does at Sound Pressure Studios now.

Every project and artist that comes to us benefits from our strong legacy — the skill, passion, and dedication of someone who truly loves his craft.

Even after all this time, that passion is still alive. He learns something new every day, inspired by the fresh energy, honesty, and stories brought in by the new generation of artists. It’s all part of the same ongoing journey — one that started decades ago and keeps evolving with every song created here. ✨

We are working closely with on guitars. We are recording rhythm lines, leads, and solos while adds energy to the music. We are shaping each take, tone, and texture to capture the band’s raw energy.

The album’s being produced and recorded, and later we’ll edit, mix, and master it all right here at Sound Pressure Studios — it’s awesome to have a full in-house setup to work with. Safari Zone’s music has such a strong vibe, and it’s been amazing to see each session bring out more of their unique voice and direction.

The sound is coming together beautifully, and we can’t wait to share what’s on the way!

Getting vocals to sit perfectly in a mix isn’t just about volume — it’s about energy, tone, and movement.

At Sound Pressure Studios, we’ve refined our process to make vocals cut through with clarity and emotion while remaining natural and musical.

One of our favorite approaches uses parallel processing through the vocal bus:

> A 1176 compressor doing heavy, fast compression for presence and consistency.
> Followed by a Pultec tube EQ, adding just the right touch of warmth on the lows and a silky bite on the highs.

With careful automation, we can bring out that “chest-tone” power and top-end sparkle — especially in the chorus — without making the vocals sound louder.

The result? Vocals that cut through the mix with the right amount of energy, sitting perfectly in balance with the music.

And that’s just one of the many tricks we use daily to make performances shine.

We’re honored to have recorded all the drums on this album at Sound Pressure Studios, under the direction and co-production of Leopoldo Lopes.

Phenomy have truly outdone themselves with this one: a unique blend of lo-fi aggression and cinematic flair, their Lebanese-metal identity amplified into something truly epic.

We’re honored to reflect on three major albums where our own Leopoldo Lopes contributed behind the scenes:

Living Proof by Cher (Released 06 November 2001) — An iconic dance-pop album released by WEA / Warner Bros. Records. It debuted at No. 9 on the US Billboard 200 and sold over 1 million worldwide. This album was a significant milestone in Cher’s career, marking her return to the music scene after a hiatus.
Key credits: Cher (vocals), Rob Dickins (executive producer), Johan Åberg / Tony Moran / Stargate & others as producers, and Leopoldo Lopes as assistant mixing engineer.

Origin of Symmetry by Muse (Released 06 November 2001) — A breakthrough rock album released via Taste Media (UK) and other labels abroad. It reached No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart, was certified Platinum, and has sold over 2 million copies worldwide.
> Key credits: Muse (Matthew Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme, Dominic Howard), producers David Bottrill & John Leckie.
> Leopoldo’s role: assistant producer & recording engineer, contributing to the sessions that captured the band’s ambitious vision.

Smile… You’re Dying! by Heideroosjes (Released 06 November 1998) — A bold punk compilation released by Epitaph Records, showcasing the band’s European voice and attitude.
> Key credits: Heideroosjes (Fred Houben, Igor Hobus, Frank Kleuskens), design by Marco Roelofs & Fred Houben.
> Leopoldo Lopes, assistant mastering engineer, ensured the record’s energy and clarity translated across formats.

It’s been a privilege and a humbling experience to play a part in these musical milestones — each album driven by talented artists, skilled production teams, and the passion to push sound further.

We’re so proud to share that Poli Nika has just released her debut EP, Remember Why — a beautiful collection of songs that truly captures her artistic identity.

Two of the tracks were recorded right here at Sound Pressure Studios, where Poli has been shaping her sound over the past few years, working closely with Leopoldo Lopes and our team of young producers.

Poli’s journey has been inspiring to witness — she began singing in Russian. With time and confidence, she’s embraced writing and performing in English, reaching new listeners while staying true to her emotional depth and poetic voice.

Her music blends love, nature, self-discovery, and raw emotion, always carried by her distinctive vocal tone and gentle presence in the studio.
It’s been a true pleasure to record and collaborate with her — and we couldn’t be prouder to see her music out in the world. 💫

We are excited to welcome Gonçalo Quintas to the Sound Pressure Studios family! 🎸

Gonçalo recently graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Contemporary Writing & Production, earning honors as summa cm laude 🎓. He also completed minors in Recording & Production and Writing for Television and New Media.

An incredibly talented guitarist and bassist, Gonçalo has a deep understanding of music theory — some might even say he is happily nerdy about it! Intelligent, curious, and full of great humor, he brings both creativity and precision to every session.

Gonçalo has already worked on a variety of projects, including TV music for Discovery and CBS Sports, live arrangements for shows at the Berklee Performance Center, and recording and production for artists such as IARA, Lima Wayne, and Naim Darrechi.

At Sound Pressure Studios, Gonçalo will collaborate with Leopoldo Lopes and the team on production, recording, mixing, and mastering. He will help shape new projects and support artists in the studio.

We are thrilled to have him on board and can’t wait for everyone to hear the magic he will be a part of.

Some time ago, we had the privilege of working with VALLECHI in the studio, producing and recording several tracks alongside PROXY FAE. It was an experience we are truly grateful for.

Among them, “Go Easy” and “Sometimes” — both co-produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by us — are already out in the world, while others remain in the archives… waiting for their moment, if it ever comes. ⏳

Times change. Goals shift. Creative energy evolves. The paths we walk today may lead us somewhere completely different from where we once started — and that’s the beauty of it.

Working with Vallechi was an authentic artistic exchange. We learned with him and from him. These sessions reminded us that growth, sharing, and collaboration are at the heart of creation — and of life itself.

✨ The journey of creation is ongoing. Keep creating. Keep learning. Keep evolving.

Um estúdio de gravação e centro criativo que iniciou a sua atividade em 1 Junho de 2007. É composto por uma equipa jovem e empreendedora de engenheiros de som, músicos, produtores e ainda profissionais nas áreas da fotografia e vídeo, marketing e assessoria musical!

Temos anos de experiência a trabalhar com vários artistas em diversos estilos musicais, desde do pop à música electrónica, do kizomba, funk ao R&B, do rock ao metal, do hip hop à música latina tendo como objetivo sermos uma referência nacional e internacional na produção musical.

O nosso estúdio foi construído pelo conceituado designer e engenheiro José Cunha e Silva e é composto por 3 salas independentes dedicadas a diferentes atividades e serviços tais como a produção musical e vocal, gravação áudio de voz e todo o tipo de instrumentos musicais, bem como toda a pós-produção, mistura e masterização.
