Romania has quite an extensive history with minimal tech-house. The various waves of talent to bust out of the country have something in common: they were all masters of form and function. Mihai Pol is one of Romania’s most notable names emerging, touring the world while keeping it underground.

Following his work as a producer, Mihai works equally on the mind and the body in his role as DJ; a characteristic that requires true artistry to pull on the hearts and move the legs in rhythm at the same time.

Fast forward to the present and we see him traveling the world’s underground venues and festivals with pit stops on every continent.

His latest EP “Ebb And Flow” is now available on the usual online record store as a vinyl only. Link in bio for more!

With a sound that embodies precision, groove, and an ever-evolving sense of storytelling, Mihai Pol has carved a unique place within the minimal tech-house landscape since his breakout moment in 2016 with Goneta on Capodopere.

On Ebb And Flow, Mihai delivers a refined suite of tracks created over a focused one-to-two month period, all sharing a clean, underground, club-oriented spirit. “There was no cultural reference for them,” he shares. “Just me putting together sounds and playing them live.” Built using an analog-heavy arsenal: MPC1000, Rytm, Digitone, Virus, Modular, Prophet6, Octatrack, and a few choice samples, the EP captures Mihai’s organic approach to groove and texture.

Ebb And Flow is a dancefloor journey that hits the body and speaks to the soul.

“This mix is really special to me. I was given full freedom to express myself, no rules, no expectations. Just space to be real and create from the heart, which is something I value deeply. It came together very naturally. I didn’t plan much, I just followed the energy, stayed present, and played what felt right in the moment. It became a reflection of where I’m at emotionally and creatively right now.

What makes it even more meaningful is that most of the tracks are from friends, incredibly talented artists who shared their unreleased gems with me. It felt like a shared experience, a way to bring our worlds together through sound.

Evgheniia, formerly known as Jay Medvedeva is a long time friend.

We fell for her sound when meeting her in Tulum, Mexico around 10 years ago. An absolute force to be reckoned with behind the decks, she captured our attention from the get go.

She has undergone a significant personal and creative transformation over the past five years, embracing a clearer artistic direction and a more intentional
presence. This shift is reflected in her performances and productions, where an unmistakable sense of focus and emotional resonance defines her sound.
