"THE WINE SHOW" AT AN ALENTEJO FORTRESS!

The fortress “Forte da Graça” at Elvas will be the filming location for the british TV series “The Wine Show”, starring Matthew Goode and Matthew Rhys and the wine expert Joe Fattorini.

The Garrison Border Town of Elvas and its Fortifications is a Unesco World Heritage Site, inscribed in the World Heritage list in 2012. Elvas is a Portuguese city in Alentejo, near the Portuguese-Spanish border.

Quoting the UNESCO website, the extensively fortified from the 17th to 19th centuries, represents the largest bulwarked dry-ditch system in the world. Within its walls, the town contains barracks and other military buildings as well as churches and monasteries. While Elvas contains remains dating back to the 10th century ad, its fortification began when Portugal regained independence in 1640.

The fortifications designed by Dutch Jesuit padre Cosmander represent the best surviving example of the Dutch school of fortifications anywhere. The site also contains the Amoreira aqueduct, built to enable the stronghold to withstand lengthy sieges.

NEW PRODUCTION CENTRE AT ALGARVE

The British companies The MovieBox and Landsdowne Capital Partners, are investing 60 M€ at a movie and TV production center at Algarve (Loulé), says Loulé Film Office.

These facilities will be located at an abandoned industrial site and intends to be a reference filming complex in order to attract international producers and directors to film at Algarve.

"FATIMA" premiere is scheduled for April 30th at more than 1000 commercial cinemas just in USA, starring Harvey Keitel and Sonia Braga!

California-based Origin Entertainment developed the screenplay, Marco Pontecorvo directed and Valerio D’Annunzio adapted from the story by Barbara Nicolosi, in a co-production with Elysia Productions and Rose Pictures.

Production took place entirely within Portugal in collaboration with the ICA (Instituto de Cinema e Audiovisual), and with the Ministry of Tourism / Ministry of Economic Affairs, in locations that include Fatima itself, Sesimbra, Cidadelhe (Pinhel), Tomar, Coimbra, and Tapada de Mafra.

The production filmed the 100th Year Anniversary Mass in Fatima in May of 2017, celebrated by Pope Francis, and portions of the footage were used in the end credit sequence.

From a gritty, down-to-earth perspective, this live-action adventure drama chronicles the incredible story of three children who experienced the supernatural in rural Portugal during 1917. These experiences launched them on a quest to bring a message of peace to the world.

In breathtaking detail, the film follows the children through their supernatural experiences, which included being exposed to terrifying visions of the future and of heaven and hell, which changed them forever. The film details their courageous response during which they faced ridicule, persecution, and punishment from within their own family, their local community, and the government. Throughout they maintained their childhood innocence while also remaining true to their mission of bringing a message of peace to the word.

FATIMA the movie retains the authenticity of the original voice of this story, as reflected in interviews of the oldest sheperd, Lucia Dos Santos, the oldest of the three children later in life. The interviews show the meaning of Fatima is still relevant for all people more than a century after the original events occurred.

The movie is distributed in Portugal by CINEMUNDO.
