Are teenagers really smoking less?

Yes. But ni****ne use is changing.

🚬 Lifetime cigarette use fell from 68% in 1995 to 32% in 2024. Meanwhile, e-cigarette use rose from 41% to 43% between 2019 and 2024.

The latest ESPAD survey asked 113 882 students aged 15–16 across Europe about substance use and other risky behaviours.

When in Rome... learn how Europe spots new psychoactive substances.

This week, the EUDA and the Italian Department for Antidrug and Addiction Policies are welcoming experts from countries in the European Neighbourhood Policy area and EU candidate and potential candidate countries.

🇮🇹 Hosted in Rome, the visit offers a behind-the-scenes look at the early-warning systems on new psychoactive substances.

🤝 Through exchanges with national experts and the EUDA, participants are exploring how information on new substances is collected, analysed and shared across borders, strengthening early warning capacities and cooperation between countries.

🚨 The early-warning systems play a key role in detecting, assessing and responding to new psychoactive substances and other emerging drug threats across Europe.
