Jesus Christ Resurrected — So Did Morbid Death: The Shortest 'Death' in Metal History!

After announcing their farewell last December —with a final live show scheduled for January 25th —Morbid Death, one of the Azores most iconic heavy metal bands, has shocked fans with an unexpected twist: this is not the end but a new beginning.

Originally set to close the chapter with the “Morbid Death - The Final Chapter” concert, the farewell show was canceled. The stars have realigned, and lead vocalist/baixista Ricardo Santos has now confirmed that the band will continue its journey as it approaches 35 years in 2025.

In this fresh chapter, Morbid Death will undergo a significant lineup change. Due to professional constraints, Luís H. Bettencourt and Rafael Bulhões will no longer be part of the project. They are replaced by talented newcomers: guitarists João Raposo and Helder Pinheiro and drummer Pedro Sousa. Santos expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the invaluable contributions of Bettencourt and Bulhões—praising their musical prowess and professionalism—while emphasizing that the band’s renewed formation aims to recapture the raw, unbridled thrash/death metal sound that defined its early days back in 1990.

With this return to its roots, Morbid Death is set to revive the classic themes that once made history in the region’s heavy metal scene. As they gear up for what promises to be an electrifying new phase, the band leaves no doubt: this is a rebirth of an era.

Jesus Cristo Ressuscitado — o mesmo aconteceu com os Morbid Death: A 'morte' mais curta da história do metal!

Após anunciarem o adeus definitivo em dezembro — com um concerto final marcado para o dia 25 de janeiro — os icónicos Morbid Death, uma das maiores bandas de heavy metal dos Açores, surpreenderam os fãs com uma reviravolta inesperada: este não é o fim, mas um novo começo.

O concerto “Morbid Death - The Final Chapter”, que seria o encerramento da carreira da banda, foi cancelado. Os astros alinharam-se e o vocalista/baixista Ricardo Santos confirmou que a banda continuará a sua trajetória, celebrando 35 anos em 2025.

Nesta nova etapa, os Morbid Death passarão por uma importante mudança de formação. Por impossibilidades profissionais, Luís H. Bettencourt e Rafael Bulhões não farão mais parte do projeto. Nos seus lugares, chegam os novos talentos: os guitarristas João Raposo e Hélder Pinheiro e o baterista Pedro Sousa. Ricardo Santos expressou profunda gratidão pelas contribuições de Bettencourt e Bulhões, reconhecendo o seu impacto e profissionalismo, mas ressaltou que a nova formação tem o objetivo de recuperar a sonoridade crua e intensa do thrash/death metal, que marcou os primórdios da banda desde 1990.

Com este retorno às raízes, os Morbid Death prometem reviver os temas clássicos que fizeram história no panorama do heavy metal açoriano. Enquanto a banda prepara-se para essa nova e eletrizante fase, uma coisa é certa: um renascimento de uma era está prestes a começar.
