🇺🇿✨ THINKING ABOUT VISITING UZBEKISTAN? SAVE THIS!

It’s less than 5 hours from Doha, packed with incredible history, stunning architecture, delicious food, beautiful mountains and warm hospitality. 🇺🇿❤️

Here are some things you should know before you go 👇🏼

✈️ GETTING THERE
Qatar Airways flies direct from Doha to Tashkent 4x a week - Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday.

🕌 HALAL-FRIENDLY
Uzbekistan is a Muslim-majority country, so halal food is widely available. You’ll also find breathtaking mosques, madrasahs and Islamic heritage sites.

🛂 VISA
Qatari nationals can visit Uzbekistan visa-free. See our previous post for visa details

🌸 BEST TIME TO VISIT
My pick? Spring & autumn.
Summer is hot and dry, while winter is cold and perfect for snowy mountain escapes.

💰 IS IT EXPENSIVE?
Not at all! I found food, taxis, shopping and everyday expenses very affordable.

💵 CASH IS KING
Take US dollars and exchange them for Uzbek som.

📍 WHERE TO GO?

🏙️ TASHKENT
For modern city life, shopping, cafés, restaurants and beautiful evening strolls stay in Tashkent City.

🕌 SAMARKAND, BUKHARA & KHIVA
For history, Islamic heritage, stunning architecture and Silk Road magic.

🏔️ CHARVAK (first pic)
For skiing in winter or hiking, cable cars and mountain views in summer.
✨ We loved the new Beldersoy Resort & SPA for a relaxing mountain escape.

🏨 WHERE TO STAY IN TASHKENT

I would strongly recommend staying in Tashkent City. It is a whole vibe. Gorgeous parks, modern malls, restaurants and cafés at night.
We loved staying at the new JW Marriott Hotel Tashkent

✨ MY TOP TIP:
Don’t just visit Tashkent. Combine the modern city + historic Silk Road cities + mountains for the full Uzbekistan experience.

🇺🇿 Uzbekistan completely surprised me - in the best way!

Yes… I ate horse meat in Uzbekistan 😅🐴 and YES… it tasted surprisingly like biltong! 😂🇺🇿

One thing I was NOT prepared for in Uzbekistan was the food! 🤤

It is such a pleasure to go to a Muslim country where everything is halaal and you can eat everywhere.

🍚 Plov has to be one of the stars of Uzbek cuisine — a hearty rice dish traditionally cooked with meat, carrots and spices. You simply cannot visit Uzbekistan without trying it!

🥖 But can we talk about the BREAD?! 😍 Honestly, some of the tastiest bread I have EVER eaten. Fresh, warm, beautifully patterned and so delicious that I could happily eat it on its own. Uzbek non deserves its own appreciation post! 😂

🍉🍈🍑 And if you’re visiting in summer and LOVE fruit… you will be in absolute HEAVEN! The markets are overflowing with juicy watermelons, melons, peaches, grapes and so much more. Everything tastes incredibly fresh and sweet.

🥔 And then there were the crisps… 😂 The Lay’s flavours in Uzbekistan were WILD! From crab 🦀 to sausage 🌭 and other combinations I definitely wasn’t expecting to find in a packet of chips. Of course, I had to try them!

🥟 Add in samsa, dumplings, grilled meats and endless cups of tea, and eating your way around Uzbekistan becomes part of the adventure.

And yes… somewhere along the journey I became adventurous enough to try horse meat. Definitely one for the travel memories! 😂

🇺🇿 What are YOUR favourite Uzbek dishes? And what should I make sure I try next time? 👇

🏔️ A Brand-New Ultra-Luxury Escape has opened in Uzbekistan: Beldersoy Resort & Spa

I genuinely think I would fly back to Uzbekistan just to stay at Beldersoy Resort & Spa again. ✈️

Set amongst the spectacular Chimgan Mountains, around 70 km from Tashkent, this brand-new resort feels like discovering a completely different side of Uzbekistan. The scenery alone is incredible — mountains stretching in every direction, fresh air and, during summer, beautifully pleasant weather that makes it the perfect escape from the city heat. 🌿☀️

From the moment we arrived, the welcome was incredibly warm and the service exceptional. There was a real attention to detail throughout our stay, and a special shout-out has to go to Fouzail.

Beldersoy is Uzbekistan’s first international premium mountain resort, and you can immediately see the vision behind it. It combines contemporary luxury with the tranquillity of the surrounding landscape, with rooms and suites, private 2 and 3 bedroom villas which are perfect for large families who want privacy.

And then there’s the spa. The resort is home to Re:Thalasso SPA & Wellness, described as Central Asia’s first mountain thalasso spa. Think thalassotherapy, mineral floating, individual spa rituals and beautiful spaces designed for completely switching off.

Prices for the spa experiences are very reasonable. A 60minute massage is QAR 300 (US$ 80)

🚡 The new cablecar at the resort is another exciting addition. Guests can head up to the mountain directly from the resort.

What I loved most is that Beldersoy isn’t simply a winter destination. Summer here is absolutely beautiful. The mountains provide cooler, comfortable weather, making it just as appealing for a summer escape.

With skiing and adventure in winter and mountain escapes, wellness and relaxation in summer, this is definitely one of those resorts to put on your Uzbekistan bucket list. 🇺🇿✨

Would you travel to Uzbekistan just for a luxury mountain getaway like this? 🏔️

If you’re visiting Tashkent in Uzbekistan, I would definitely recommend setting aside a day or two for the Charvac Mountain Area and staying Re:Thalasso SPA & Wellness

We visited during summer and it was honestly such a beautiful change of scenery. 😍

🚗 Located around a 1.5-hour drive from Tashkent, Amirsoy is best known as Uzbekistan’s largest ski resort, but don’t make the mistake of thinking it’s only worth visiting in winter. Summer in the mountains is absolutely gorgeous!

As you leave the city behind, the scenery slowly changes until you’re surrounded by mountains, greenery and fresh air. ⛰️🌿

🚠 THE CABLE CAR EXPERIENCE

The highlight for us was definitely taking the cable car up the mountain.

The views on the way up are spectacular, and you really get to appreciate just how beautiful this part of Uzbekistan is.

💰 Cable Car Prices

Amirsoy Express – Return
👤 Adults 14+: 115,000 UZS weekdays / 135,000 UZS weekends
Approximately $9.50 / $11 USD

👧 Children 4+: 60,000 UZS weekdays / 70,000 UZS weekends
Approximately $5 / $5.75 USD

👶 Children under 4: FREE

Go even higher to 2290m⛰️

Amirsoy Express + Prima – Return
👤 Adults: 225,000 UZS weekdays / 255,000 UZS weekends
Approximately $18.50 / $21 USD

👧 Children: 115,000 UZS weekdays / 130,000 UZS weekends
Approximately $9.50 / $10.75 USD

USD prices are approximate and will vary according to the exchange rate.

🍽️ DON’T RUSH STRAIGHT UP THE MOUNTAIN!

One thing we really liked was that you don’t have to take the cable car all the way up to start enjoying Amirsoy.

Around the first/lower level, there are lovely places to sit, eat and enjoy the mountain atmosphere, including Shashleek and PAUL. A new hotel is also being built there.

It’s a great place to stop for lunch or coffee, especially if you’re making a full day of your visit.

Definitely worth the trip!

A few minutes away is the STUNNING Re:Thalasso SPA & Wellness resort. I definitely recommend staying there. Stay tuned for our next post where we explore the resort and spa.

Prices and operating times are subject to change.

✨Guide to the Islamic Civilization Center in Tashkent, Uzbekistan 🇺🇿

If you’re visiting Tashkent, the Islamic Civilization Center is one attraction I would definitely add to your itinerary. It’s not only beautiful architecturally - it’s an immersive museum exploring the history of Islam, scholarship, science and civilization

🏆 It’s officially a Guinness World Record holder!
The Center was officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest museum of Islamic civilization by exhibition floor area.

It contains more than 2,000 exhibits and can accommodate over 10,000 visitors at one time.

The Center combines historical artefacts and manuscripts with multimedia displays, interactive technology and immersive installations.

One of the highlights is the Qur’an Hall, featuring a spectacular architectural-artistic installation created with more than one million Swarovski crystals. There are also interactive “time capsules” designed to take visitors through different periods of history.

The exhibitions explore everything from pre-Islamic civilizations through different periods of Islamic history.

🎟️ Ticket prices
•Foreign visitors – 2-hour guided group tour
•Adults: 310,000 UZS
•Children aged 7–18: 250,000 UZS

🎤Tours are available in English, Uzbek and Russian. Arabic tours can be prebooked.

🎫 Tickets can be purchased at the Center or through iTicket.uz, and you choose a specific time slot when booking.

⏰ Opening hours
•Daily: 9AM – 10PM

💡 Tips before you go:
⏱️Allow at least two hours.
🎟️ Book your preferred time in advance.
👗 Dress modestly.
📸 Photography is possible in permitted areas, but avoid flash.

⏰ Don’t arrive late because tours are tied to specific time slots.
💎 Definitely make time for the Qur’an Hall - it is one of the most impressive spaces inside the Center.

⭐ Is it worth visiting?
Absolutely. Whether you’re interested in Islamic history, architecture, science or simply looking for something unique to experience

🍈 A melon celebration in the heart of ancient Khiva!

Every August, the historic city of Khiva comes alive for Qovun Sayli — the traditional Khiva Melon Festival, a colourful celebration of one of Uzbekistan’s most-loved summer fruits. 🇺🇿

And this isn’t just about melons! 🍉🍈 The festival brings together local farmers, artisans, performers and visitors to celebrate Uzbek culture, agriculture and centuries-old traditions.

Expect tables overflowing with different varieties of beautifully grown melons, traditional music and dance, local crafts, colourful costumes and plenty of opportunities to taste the flavours of Uzbekistan. 💃🏻🎶

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Khiva’s ancient architecture, it’s such a unique way to experience the country’s culture and hospitality.

If you’re visiting Uzbekistan in early August, Qovun Sayli is definitely one to add to your itinerary! 🍈💛
