Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his teamβs third Indian Premier League (IPL) title victory at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday. The superstar couldn't stop himself from showering love on his team members.
After the match, SRK celebrated with each member of the team and even kissed mentor Gautam Gambhirβs forehead. Gambhirβs return did wonders for KKR this year. Their third title celebrations began at the same ground, Chepauk, where they lifted their maiden title in 2012 under Gambhirβs leadership.
The victory in the IPL 2024 final has the KKR camp in a celebratory mood. SRK hurried to the field to congratulate his men on their decisive win, showing affection to the Kolkata Knight Riders players with hugs and kisses, including a heartfelt kiss on Gambhirβs forehead.
Hard-hitting batter Rinku Singh expressed his thrill with the victory, feeling fulfilled for winning the title with the team that gave him the chance to leave his imprint seven years earlier. βOutstanding feeling right now. Dream has come true β I have been here for 7 years and we are so happy. Credit to GG sir. I will finally lift the IPL trophy. It was Godβs plan,β Rinku told the broadcasters after the match.
KKR batter Nitish Rana highlighted Gambhirβs fierce determination, recalling a talk he had with the KKR mentor before the start of the IPL 2024 edition. βWhen Gautam Gambhir was signed as our mentor, I had congratulated him on WhatsApp. I wrote a long message to him and he thanked me, but he also said heβll be the happiest when weβll lift the trophy at the podium. Today is that day and Iβll remember that message forever,β Rana said.
Talking about the match, KKR scripted an encore to lift their third trophy. The KKR bowlers left the Sunrisers dumbstruck, restricting the free-scoring SRH batting line-up to 113. In reply, KKR chased down the target in only 10.3 overs with eight wickets in hand.
