🚨 House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries is urging the immediate shutdown of ICE’s Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark, New Jersey.
Following a congressional oversight visit with members of the New Jersey delegation, Jeffries pointed to what he described as serious issues at the facility, including claims that detainees were served moldy or frozen food, experienced delays in receiving medical care, and faced retaliation while in custody.
Jeffries also argued that many of those detained are law-abiding residents, small business owners, and students rather than dangerous criminals. He accused the Trump administration’s deportation policies of undermining due process and demonstrating what he called a “depraved indifference to human life.”
Do you agree with Jeffries that Delaney Hall should be shut down, or do you believe ICE detention facilities are necessary for enforcing immigration laws?
