In an era of fast edits, loud music and constant cuts, I wanted to leave this video exactly as I experienced it.
Just 45 seconds of a real morning.
No added sounds.
Only Lake Cahul, June 2026, between 6:30 and 8:00 AM.
This is a fishery near the village of Lymanske, close to the town of Reni in Southern Bessarabia. While most people are still asleep, the work here has already begun. Fishermen head out before sunrise, nets are pulled in, the catch is sorted, and fresh fish begins its journey to local markets.
This is where the fish you later see at market stalls actually comes from. For the people here, it’s simply another ordinary morning.
I wanted to capture the atmosphere as it is – without music, without narration, without trying to make it more dramatic than reality already is.
Southern Bessarabia is a fascinating region. Not just because of its landscapes, but because of the people whose lives have been connected to the Danube, its lakes, and fishing for generations.
Sometimes the most interesting stories don’t need words. They just need a moment of silence.
