Missed out on this aussie punk/oi! tour in Europe back in 2023, and this is the closest I couuld get: live tape from Wild At Heart in Berlin, 8 tracks, limited to 70 copies only, cool a.f.! 🤩 Out on Body Snatcher records last year, prolly sold out by now. 🍻

LAZY CLASS - Hell of San Domingo

This is when you recently get into an old band you missed out on, start collecting all their previous stuff and discover everything is fu***ng good, that you gotta tell people about it. 😎This here is a 10'' gem from a decade ago which I am very happy to have found at Rebellion Records NL. This is your pick if you're looking for some melodic yet classic punk/oi! with some weighty socio-political lyrics. 🍻

V/A: The Endless Cycle of Total Destruction (Tribute to Bathory) 2021

While I can't stand tribute bands, I do love compilations featuring deep underground acts covering their most loved songs from a band they're big fans of. 🍻This is exclusively Russian and it's a cool way to discover tons of new bands. Much to my surprise, there are several crust/d-beat bands here, but also lots of em which belong to your typical thrash/death/black metal genre, so you can expect very different contrasting sounds and productions. I like Mystic Storm's "home of the brave" and Tanator's "Nordland" covers the most, and also Vendel does justice to "Under the Runes". 👍It's quite a remarkable release, was limited to 290 copies, so grab yours while it's still available. 🍻

Automatica Aggregazione - s/t

I don't make pizza often, but when I do, I always listen to some good old Italian Oi!, which like fine wine, gets better with age.👍 Glad to have found this piece from 2008 at a distro recently, and re-discover this band from the city of Rome. Salute! 🍻

Skinhead - It's a beautiful day, what a beautiful day

Don't skip this if you think the band name lacks originality, it's a super group which features people from different well known US bands, but this ain't just another side project, this record fu***ng rips! 😲It's raw punk and hardcore with a gripping lead guitar and there's an ultras firm leader shouting on the terraces as the singer. From the very start it goes into a tirade about this and that, the lyrics are quite personal, but everyone can relate to a topic or another. The brutal stories, the heavy thunderstorm sensation along the album, the straight forward lines, together with the impacting spoken words passage, makes every track feel very real. I for one fell for the closing tear-jerker song about a dog. 🥹This is gonna get big! 🍻

TORO BRAVO Vilnius – Mes Tokia Karta

Toro Bravo 's been around for almost three decades now, they're part of the 90s oi!/punk wave from behind the fallen Iron Curtain. ✊They're from Lithuania and I first saw them live in Craiova 15 years ago, at a small pub gig which was organised by Vlad, the bass player from local oi!/punk band Scandal - streetpunk’98. The Romanian band was formed around the same time as Toro Bravo by the way. They're now in UK though. There used to be a lot of activity in the scene here before many people left for job opportunities in Western Europe. I remember gigs being held all over the place in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova and Timişoara. 🍻Our home artist Missryne, who did the StrigOi! zine covers, drew some of those events posters back then, like the Toro Bravo date in Craiova for example.
After several albums on CDs, Toro Bravo finally released a 10'' vinyl in 2021. This is the one! Was limited to 300 copies! I was suprised I could still find a copy now. It's high-powered punk, quite catchy, sung in Lithuanian thoough, without a dull moment. 👍

SYMPOS/Lost Legion split

I fu***ng love 7 inches split releases. They've always been quite the original underground feature along with tape cassettes. The bands here are probably two of the most notable oi! acts from the past few years. While they do have their own different styles, the split is a match. Old school influenced and lively oi! from Ireland meets a very cool mix of oi!/hc and power pop from Chicago. The smart lyrics on social and political themes are definitely a plus. 🍻

Burden - Under the Banner
This is a remastered compilation of earlier stuff. The hardcore and oi! mixture kills. It's a fu***ng war and the story is glorious. It's a fairytale! 👊 It's brutal, it's original, and almost extinct. ☠️Great collectors item! 🍻

Maloio (PT) – Ein Unnütz Leben Ist Ein Früher Tod

This is crazy af. 😵‍💫 It doesn't really fit into a single subgenre, what starts like typical French Oi!, turns later into a fast German berserk style and then cools down to a synth wave post punk experiment. 👊 The tracks differ from one another not only in the matter of musical type, but they sing in 7 languages: Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, German, French, English and even Japanese, it somehow feels like this variety also influences the different moods across the record. 🌑🌩The only constant features from one track to another come with the raw sound and the rabid vocals. It's a bit strange at first audition, but then it definitely grows on you. 🍻 "O Sangue na tua Saliva" is probably my favourite track, the gloomy atmosphere is completed by the coffin shaped booklet insert. 🧛‍♂️
Very limited edition, hand-numbered to 200 copies only on Combate Brutal.

Very happy when I manage to get my hands on rare stuff which I missed out on at the time of the release. 🍻Here's a german demo which features 5 tracks of raw yet intense oi!/punk, including an atypical yet pretty cool instrumental piece which starts off with a quote from the Matrix. 😎
