Strengthening Local Governance for Inclusive Development in Liberia
We are pleased to share the Concept Note for the upcoming International Policy Roundtable on Local Governance and Rural Development, a high-level dialogue aimed at advancing inclusive governance and sustainable development across Liberia.
The Roundtable will bring together policymakers, development partners, governance experts, local government officials, civil society representatives, and international practitioners to exchange global and regional experiences that can support Liberia's ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, which prioritizes Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism.
The event will serve as a platform for peer learning, comparative analysis, and evidence-based policy discussions focused on strengthening local governance systems, deepening decentralization, and enhancing the capacity of local institutions to drive development at the community level.
Participants will explore practical approaches to improving service delivery, promoting citizen participation, fostering accountability, and accelerating rural transformation.
The dialogue is expected to generate valuable recommendations that will contribute to Liberia's ongoing efforts to build responsive, inclusive, and effective local governance structures.
Through collaborative engagement and the sharing of best practices, the Roundtable seeks to support national efforts to empower local communities, strengthen democratic governance, and create sustainable pathways for rural development throughout Liberia.
