APGA Stalwart Advises Okwuosa to Drop Court Move as APC Candidate Rejects Anambra South Senatorial Bye-Election Result

The aftermath of the just concluded Anambra South Senatorial bye-election has continued to generate political reactions, following the declaration of Hon. Emmanuel Nwachukwu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as winner.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Azuka Okwuosa, has rejected the result, insisting that he would head to court to reclaim what he described as his stolen mandate.
Speaking after the results were announced, Hon. Okwuosa alleged massive irregularities and intimidation, pointing accusing fingers at the popular UdoGaChi group.
According to him;
UdoGaChi members prevented him and many other voters from casting their votes.
Over 200 masked UdoGaChi boys were allegedly present at polling locations, despite the AIG’s ban on their participation in the election.
He claimed video evidence exists, some of which were even posted by APGA media aides themselves, showing UdoGaChi security and the President General of Oraifite allegedly blocking his house.
He further alleged that at night, some APGA youths also blocked his residence.
He said the process amounted to political gerrymandering and vowed to pursue his case in court.
“I have my evidence, I have my rights, and I will not be silent. The election was far from free and fair, and I am determined to prove my case before the courts,” Okwuosa declared.
Reacting to the APC candidate’s position, APGA stalwart, An Mgbechi Emmanuel Igwebuike ( Evang.), advised Okwuosa not to waste his time and resources dragging the matter to court.
According to him, Ndi Anambra South had already made their choice clear at the polls in favour of APGA’s Hon. Emmanuel Nwachukwu, describing the victory as the voice of the people.
He said; "The truth is that Ndi Anambra South has spoken. There are no Udogachi members seen in any polling unit meanwhile they are on the patrol to secure the voters and INEC officias. In the long run, Ndi Anambra State cannot do without UdoGaChi, especially given the security challenges in the region. Instead of embarking on a legal battle that will end in futility, it is better for Hon. Okwuosa to accept the verdict of the people
Evang. Igwebuike further cautioned Okwuosa not to expose himself to deeper scrutiny, asking him to explain why INEC ad-hoc staff were taken to his house and locked up.
Are there polling units in your compound?” he queried.
While Okwuosa insists on heading to court to challenge the bye-election result, APGA stalwarts believe the people’s mandate is not in doubt. The coming weeks will reveal whether the APC candidate follows through with his legal threat or bows to the pressure to let the matter rest.
