🌍 Earth Day – April 22

Today we celebrate Earth Day, a global initiative launched in 1970 by Senator Ga***rd Nelson to raise awareness of environmental challenges such as pollution and ecological disasters.

Its message remains urgent: protecting our planet requires collective action and long-term commitment.

🌱 Act today for a sustainable tomorrow.

🌐 International Collaboration into Action

One of the most powerful aspects of the Eco-Schools programme is the opportunity to connect and learn across borders. Through school twinning, schools can exchange experiences, inspire each other, and strengthen their sustainability journeys together.
Thanks to the collaboration between Eco-Schools Argentina and Brazil, a meaningful partnership was established with teacher exchanges between Austin Eco Bilingual School (Argentina) and Escola da Colina (Brazil) from 2024 to 2025.

During these visits, the staff exchanged practices, toured school facilities, and shared pedagogical and environmental perspectives.
Building on this connection, Austin Eco Bilingual School has been invited to join a 2026 socio-environmental project alongside schools from Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia, with Eco-Schools Brazil supporting the initiative.

This example highlights how twinning between Eco-Schools can spark inspiration, strengthen learning, and lead to lasting impact. 🌱

Through a transdisciplinary and participatory process conducted in four European countries – Spain, Finland, Portugal and Romania – with the support of technical partners in Hungary and Greece, ECF4CLIM developed, tested and validated this Roadmap for Sustainability Competences through multiple phases. Data was
collected through crowdsourcing, and the initial roadmap was tested using participatory action research in project schools and universities.

The ECF4CLIM flipbooks are interactive, visually engaging educational resources designed to support learning and capacity building in sustainability. Designed for students, educators and stakeholders, these digital publications translate complex topics such as climate change, energy systems and sustainable development into accessible, structured content. By combining concise explanations, data-driven insights and intuitive navigation, the flipbooks facilitate self-learning and classroom use. They also reflect the project’s commitment to bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and practical understanding, thereby empowering users to make informed decisions and contribute actively to the transition towards a more sustainable future.

See the link in first comment...

There are five flipbooks, categorised according to the ECF4CLIM roadmap areas (Engagement, Connections, Change and Action), as well as an introductory module. They incorporate practical examples and links to interventions carried out in schools and universities, as well as to the tools developed in the project, such as the Environmental Footprint Calculator, the Retrofitting Toolkit and the Sustainability Interventions Evaluation Tool.
