After being off grid for 3 months i made a rookie mistake on friday night and thought id share my story to prevent others from making the same mistake.
Friday night around 10pm i decided to clean out the cupbaod under the fridge (fridge running on gas). I wiped it all out with disinfectant wipes and then sprayed it with eucalyptus spray which inturn blew up the pilot light from behind the fridge.
Thankfully i only ended up with first degree burns (and a free facial wax and peel😅) from something that could have been far far worse.
Hospital monitered me for 14hrs and did all the enternal checks that go along with facial burns - heart, nasal, eyes, lungs, throat, and vitals.
Yes i felt silly as soon as the blow happened i realised exactly what i had done.
Kids and i learnt a valuable lesson.

So after 5000+ kms we head home from an amazing trip. We left Nagambie @ 8:45 for this to happen 50kms from home. We are so lucky that there were not other vehicles, let alone a semi trailer coming along in the right lane on the Hume Hwy. I’m sure our angels above were looking out for us.
Thankyou to all the people that stopped to see if we were ok and these great young boys that winched the van up for us. Very scarey but we are home and ok other than being pretty shattered and shaken. Van towed to a holding yard in Epping for insurance.
Edit: there are road works being done at night. One side of the road had been resurfaced except the other side hadn’t. All of a sudden the car felt weird like someone took control of the steering wheel. We just tried to keep straight looked in the mirrors and the van was beside the car. Once it flipped that stopped the car and from rolling. Only thing we can think is that the caravan wheel got caught on the edge of the raised asphalt (150ml)!
No to too much weight we had van and car weighed before we left. It’s a DO35 hitch.
We’d been on corrugated roads, sand, gravel roads and no trouble at all. Victorian roads are s**t.

Just a heads up tip, We left the keys in the door of the van when we left Biloela they stayed there for 2 klms and fell out.
A few days later we got a phone call a kind gentleman had found them on the road near the entrance to his property they had been run over several times. He kindly put them in the post to a post office where we were heading.
The $5 tag on our key ring with our phone number on it saved us a very expensive job .
Yes we sent him a gift voucher even though he said he didn’t require reimbursement.
Now we are all happy.

I have been doing a lot of homework on fire pits for on the road. My husband had made a very good one out of a halved keg, but it took up a lot of room in the front tunnel.
On fb one night I came across the Arcmate pit and instantly liked it, so ordered one. It is solid, fantastic room saver as it fits on the back wheel and it is very well secured and also safe with a lock strap....well it will stop the honest thieves lol..

I just came back from a flying trip moving vehicles from Perth to Melbourne and back and came across this about 70kms out of Ceduna. I hope everyone was ok the mess was there for the two days I drove past it. But it shows this was on a straight stretch of the Eyre Highway slow down and take care the next camp spot will still be there even it takes an extra hour to get there.

Curious question, saw this in a carpark, is this wdh on upsidedown or is this a new way of installing them.
